YOU CAN FIND THE STYLELIFE CHALLENGE HERE:
Google 'Stylelife challenge pdf' and click the DocDroid link. I'd link it but Reddit labels this post as Spam and thus removes it, so I can't.
Introduction and Premise:
The Stylelife challenge is presented in Neil Strauss' book "The Rules of The Game", and challenges the reader to get a date within 30 days. Each day presents a new challenge that aims to develop your life in some aspect. No matter where you're at in your dating life, you should not jump ahead, and should take the challenge a day at a time - as prescribed. My intention here is, well, to get a date - no shit, right? Furthermore, however, I'd also like to get some of you guys on board with me. I will write down content from each day, meaning it is my challenge for you to also complete said challenges. My responses to the questions given in the book will be posted in each day's post. My results from any real-world exercises will be posted at the beginning of the following day's post.
You may write your results down on paper, on a private Word document, send them over to me via messaging, or write them as a comment on each post - the latter-most will enable others to give feedback and answer any questions you may have.
Starting today, I'll post the questions/instructions below, and you also have access to the exact material I have in physical form (as per the link above), so you don't have to wait on me to post, and will face the proceeding day ready and knowing. I can appreciate that not many may be able to participate, and fewer will choose to do so, but it will be an interesting course of action for all that attend. Even if you have a full-time job, just put aside a set-time each morning/evening to answer the questions. You can also carry-out the physical exercises as you go about your day.
Context:
I'm fortunate that I'm starting my final year of University in a few weeks, and have little I need to do beforehand. About me? Well, I believe I'm average on looks (I'm regularly told about how young and baby-faced I look for a 21-year-old), have a pretty average body composition, but have lifted for some time so have muscle on me, alongside fat. I've not had sexual contact in almost a year, and have had only a single sexual partner - and also only one girlfriend - in my life. I have few friends, and my social life is currently near non-existence, for I'm in a city I've not been in in over a year, and have only been here a week and don't know anybody here. Hopefully you have a decent enough picture of who I am. Comparing yourself to me and making complaints won't do anybody any favors, and if you're a kissless virgin who's obese, then this challenge may revolutionize your life if you give it your all. Anyways...
DAY 1:
MISSION 1: EVALUATE YOURSELF
- Write one or two sentences describing how you believe other people currently perceive you.
I believe I am initially perceived as quite confident and sometimes standoffish. Upon first meeting a stranger, I feel I'm more aware of my behaviours and can therefore be seen as confident, yet can be perceived as something of an asshole. However, as time passes I believe I begin to 'weaken' and show more needy traits, and this can put people off slightly.
- Write one or two sentences describing how you'd like to be perceived by others.
I'd like for others to instantly warm to me, and not be intimidated by me. I feel that intimidating someone isn't achieving anything, and may only make you temporarily feel good due to the stroking of the ego. I'd also like for people to be confident and comfortable in talking to me, and would like to come across as receptive and open to talking to anybody. I don't like coming across as reserved (if I ever do come across in this way), and would like people - girls especially - to think of me as strong and friendly, being somebody they'd like to get to know more.
- List three of your behaviours or characteristics you would like to change.
I'd like to completely stop giving too much away about myself, for I can initially come across as quite reserved and somewhat mysterious, but can then end up running my mouth when I get more comfortable with that somebody. Secondly, I would like to change how I may sometimes be perceived as a bit of a dick. Sometimes I put on a 'confident' front, which is just masking any insecurity, as I genuinely desire friendship and to have a laugh, and I believe I may put people off sometimes from initial interactions with me. Finally, I'd like to change how I converse: often I'm decent at making the other person the focal point of the conversation and in asking 'how' and 'what' questions (HTWFAIP is something I read a couple of years back), but I can sometimes get carried away in talking about myself.
- List three new behaviours or characteristics you would like to adopt.
The ability to approach any girl by herself that I deem attractive. The ability to approach girls in groups is something much more long-run, but to approach any lone girl I want to is a skill/behaviour I greatly desire and think is imperative for a liberated sex-/dating-life. Secondly, I'd like to be able to escalate with confidence so that interactions don't end up in her thinking I'm not sexually comfortable and throwing me in the friend-zone. Finally, I would like to adopt greater friendliness and a warmer, more natural smile. This will affect initial interactions with people, and I hope this will help in encouraging people to include me in more things and be more interested in cultivating friendship with me.
MISSION 2: READ AND DESTROY
This mission is about eliminating any self-sabotaging beliefs you may have about interacting with women. You can read the manifesto included in the document I directed you to at the beginning of the post.
MISSION 3: OPERATION SMALL TALK
Make small talk with 5 strangers. It doesn't matter who they are. The conversation can simply be you making a statement/asking a question and them providing a response, where the response can simply be them looking at you then ignoring you, if that so happens; the response doesn't matter.
So that's today's questions answered. Now it's my challenge - and responsibility - to read that document then head out and go and make some small talk. As I stated earlier, I'll be posting the results from the physical exercise in tomorrow's post. Good luck!
