New to Seddit. Need some help with opening at college parties.

Honestly to go up and ask if they are having a good time is a very weak way to talk to them, which is probably why it would be difficult to turn in to an actual conversation. Instead of this, try just saying something funny about something interesting going on with the party, the people, or the environment (music possibly). It could be almost anything, just make sure that they hear you and that it makes sense. This may not always work, especially if they are preoccupied, but if it seems like she is just hanging out/not really talking to anyone, it's almost certain to work. After she replies (or laughs, whatever) introduce yourself, then you should be fine if you can maintain a good talk. I have used this tactic to spark conversations with girls more times than I can remember, it works great. Let me know how it works out!

What I do is, when there is a bunch of girls, I normally open up just like that way you have stated and I complement the girls/girl that I like from the lot. If you specifically like someone from that bunch just concentrate on that specific person and use your body language to your own advantage. I show her that I'm interested in her and not the rest of them. I then close the conversation and catch her off guard some other time, could be when the rest of the girls decide to leave her or whatever, or you can just corner her away from the group with a line like "Hey you, yeah you, I'd like to spend some cute time with you, come over here with me"

My go to line: "Hey, I'm TheSicilianDude and I'm trying to be social and meet people tonight. What's your name?"

Then ask open-ended questions. If they talk, then awesome. If they're cold, move on to the next one.
