No. If you are an average guy and not too ugly, then you have a chance if you know how to make your photos amazing enough. This is one of the best studies about sexual dynamics I have seen in existence. You can check for yourself, it is more than worth it. Anyway... long story short - they tested the theory that having more open and dominant body language on your photos could make you more attractive. And it does. It doesn't do much for women...but for a guy in this study, it increased his popularity by freaking 10 times. You can check his profile in the link, he isn't exactly model-looking either. In fact, out of 1500 girls, only 30 swiped on him (yeah, like I said in the other post, online dating is hard for men)...but, 26 of them swiped right on the profile with the open and dominant body-language (you can check how exactly it looked in the study, or just google it).

But a more important thing is another part of the study... Researches wanted to know if this body language was attractive because it is considered more "open" or more "dominant". The results are - yeah, it is 100% about dominance. So basically...being perceived dominant on photos makes a man x10 times more attractive in comparison to being considered shy. I would say the only thing this study lacks is "normal sample" to see how much success the guy would get with ordinary photos without any obvious body language in them.

The thing is - this study was based on another one that was done in the real world "speed-dating" situation with very similar results. I would assume that having confident and dominant body-language would get you more success than "what to say" and all this superficial stuff.
