You have to humanize yourself, be aware of your flaws and point em out every once in a while. Also, make others feel the way you feel about yourself. The difference between being cocky/arrogant and confident is that arrogance assumes its better than others while confidence understands everyone's the same.

I'm very confident, but I encourage others to be the same. And I laugh at myself when I mess up do things wrong. It's a balance.

I had the same problem and this is what worked for me: get a really tough coach of some kind in a field you’re an absolute beginner in.

Could be a sport, a hobby, etc. Nothing like a Gordon Ramsay style coach yelling at you for fucking up to break down the ego and see that there’s always room for improvement

Channel it into charisma; that and sex are the only areas where confidence really counts in a relationship. You have to be pretty smart and witty to be really charismatic, and know what to say. It takes work

If someone says "your ego is too big", do journal what makes them feel so. Differentiate it from what makes you look confident.

I am usually a less or okay-ish confident person. But, somehow acting cocky helps in the first few interactions and lands me on date/hookup.

I guess we need more examples of actual conversations maybe you're saying something that in your mind doesn't sound cocky but it actually does? Or you could try to make fun of yourself for something to be more relatable?

DO NOT minimize your confidence. Just adjust it.

I would say a large amount of guys lack confidence when it comes to women. You stand out. Don’t lose your advantage.

Even if she tells you “you’re too cocky” don’t fall for it. The moment you decide to change yourself because she told you you’re too cocky, she’s already won. That is not in your favor. Eventually, she will get turned off throughout time because you couldn’t maintain your frame and stay assertive with yourself.

As long as you’re not the annoying man child that says he has the biggest junk as his pickup line.

Be the guy who is assertive with himself and is seen as cocky but because he has gotten things the way he wanted in life.

Plus, you want to trigger emotions with cocky behavior but that requires more explanation.

Just don’t be the annoying cocky.
