Just went on the first date with someone I met on dating app and planned to go to a few different places to grab food. A few minutes into the date, she said she needs to head out soon, and right after eating she says she needs to go, so the date lasted 40 minutes basically without going anywhere after the first place.

I've been rejected many times before and been on a few good and bad dates, but never felt so terrible like this. Any thoughts on how to get over this, and is there anything I can do now or in the future? Just a few days ago this happened to me and I didn't feel so bad.

Some more details, this is in nyc, and age is mid 20s, I ended up being a few minutes late and she had to wait 10 mins for me, they dressed in a pretty different style to me. I think the conversation went well enough but can't be sure, I know my conversation game can be improved but I've had successes and pretty good dates before.

I just don't think it went so bad and they left basically the first chance they got. I just came here to post since I feel like I fumbled hugely and worst of all I'm still hungry since we only got half a meal basically.

I keep thinking about what went wrong and I just have no idea, it could be anything. I feel like I have nothing to lose now I'll probably text them something, but not sure what I can even do. I would just want some sort of closure. I've been on 2-3 dates every week recently and have never felt so bad before, might have been they were one of the more attractive people I went out with and actually looked like their photos. Maybe I didn't emotionally stimulate the conversation enough, but I feel like I tried my best.

There is just no feedback from these types of experiences and I don't even have a path to improving myself. Maybe there really was nothing I could do.

If anyone else has similar experiences they could share it might help.
