OK so dealing with a shit test like that one (ones giving a bullshit reason she doesn't want you).

You can't let it affect you emotionally. Don't react strongly to it.
It's not about who's the funniest, or who's the most clever. It is not a verbal arms race. The track you were going down was sexuality. She pushed that train off course to a different track because she's on the fence with you. She pushed it onto a track of logic and banter instead of flirting. So by engaging it and trying to be super clever and outdo her, you are inherently moving away faster and faster from a dynamic of people who have sex with each other.
What you want to do is mentally shrug your shoulders at it like it was retarded, briefly acknowledge it with humor, and move on.
Example: "You're too young for me./short for me/i don't like Asians" "no don't worry I'm actually very attractive, like huge cock... Anyways...(cut that thread and change the subject immediately)."
That kind of humor works because the essence of it is not directly targeted the shit tests's subject, which in this case is age. If you were to joke about your or her's age then you would actually be putting a lot of fucking emphasis on it. I know by calling her 53 you had the right thing in your heart, acting like it didn't matter. But comedy amplifies a subject actually. It pushes it further down that wrong track. So when you joke around at a shit test, the joke can't be directly targeted toward the original subject of the shit test.
Now if you're heavily worrying, "will she react well to that?". wrong mindset. (obviously you don't want to outright offend her.) but your goal isn't to appease her. Your goal is to move on and get back to a sexual plane.

The first one was probably an IOI, not a shit test.

Read the sidebar help on shit tests. Shit tests mean you are doing well, so she tests you to see if you are real/can handle her. Generally, be nonreactive and keep running game. Yes, you should have kept talking to her.

Yeah that was a really good response to a shit test and I feel like you have the basic concept down. I would have kept on talking to her by just changing the topic. To pass a shit test I generally ignore it or just amplify whatever she's saying. Hope this helps!
