I've been where you are before. The fear/imagination is far worse than actually approaching. You just have to swallow your pride and go for it, and be prepared to suck the first 20 times. I found it helps to watch in-field videos before going out/between approaches.
What do you desire more, not having an awkward interaction, or having a woman in your life? Which one will make you a happier person? Pick that one and move on from there.

I think most of us who tried PU have been there. Reminds me when I used to go to a mall and wouldnt approach anyone.
So I'm not an RSD shill, but I would highly recommend watching some of their free vids on this kind of stuff to reframe and get you amped up to approach. In particular i highly recommend Julien's video on the Power of Now:

Probably their best advice is that pickup doesn't start at the venue, it starts hours before. If you're going to the venue as a bag of nerves, you're not likely to do well. Also socializing as a whole is a massive benefit. If you think you can be a anti-social or a shut-in, and then go out and flip the seduction switch you're kidding yourself.
PS: I've NEVER liked tapping, I hate how RSDTyler used to recommend it back in the day.

This particular situation happened to me when I was trying to daygame along the first time. Best bet is to join a Facebook RSD Circle Inner group and approach with a guy that has experience

If you were good-looking, you'd get girls just for your looks alone. Think about all kinds of brutal rejections you will be getting. 'cold-approaching' women is low value, creepy and desperate.

Kurt_Kobain, This could not be more wrong. What is creepy and desperate is comments like the one you made. This subreddit probably isn't where you should be. We support one another here. OP, I moved into a new city a few years ago for work and didn't know anyone. So I couldn't meet women through friends because I didn't have any yet and I find that online dating isn't where I thrive. It was lonely for a bit and I tried the exact same thing you talked about. I realized that I was asking too much of myself. That'd be like asking someone to run a 4k who hasn't ran before.
Keep ramping it up until you're having full and flowing conversations with pretty women. In your journey, be as patient with yourself as you would be with these women.

Of course bro. This was the method that worked for me. It took me a long time to become comfortable approaching women. Now it is a rush that I enjoy.

Off on so many levels man. Can't tell you how many good looking guys I've seen get shut down for lacking confidence or personality. Women simply do not care about looks as much as men, get that through your head. It's biology.
You shouldn't be a fat slob but you don't need to be good-looking to pull hot girls, not at all and I've seen it with my own eyes...

Honestly Kurt_Kobain, youre not only wrong about everything you have said on here, you have proven that you're a real piece of shit. What kind of person gets on this subreddits to hurt people?
I can only assume that you blame your looks for not being able to pick up women. I promise you that it is your personality. No self respecting woman would give a bully the time of day. And that is what you are being.
