You're labling the situation in your head. You're litterally creating a scene in your mind titled "Ok, section 14: Physical Escalation" and you're psyching yourself out.

Next time this happens, stop and literally ask yourself, why am I thinking this. Shit even say it out loud and make a joke out of it.

Look at the girl and say "haha wow, I can't believe I'm axious to do that"

She'll be like "do what"

Then you say "this" while going in.

I just made that little routine up just now. I bet I can pull it off. I'm gonna try it.

See how I just got myself excited about a situation you'd normally get anxious about?

Commend your progression focus on it. Do no think of your regression.

no matter how much I try to ignore my emotions and anxiety I can just never do it, I can never let go.

Instead of trying to ignore your emotions and anxieties (which won't work, they're emotions and anxieties for a reason), just tell yourself, "okay, I'm feeling nervous as hell" and do it anyway. Don't resist those feelings of anxiety. Accept that you're feeling anxious. It's a perfectly rational, valid feeling. Then escalate.

Take small steps. You don't need to try to go for the Hail Mary across-the-court shot. Make whatever progress you can.

Don't try to let go. Let go.

holy crap this describes my exact situation. i've blown too many opportunities with girls in ideal situations, i'm either too anxious or oblivious.
