I'll preface this post by saying that some people have gotten some serious utility out of them. I'm not discounting the fact that they're effective for some people. But I'm not a big fan of bootcamps in general. Here's why:

They're prohibitively expensive. Many will claim that a lot of the fees are going towards your accommodations and events, but there's still a huge chunk of money that's going in the pockets of so-called gurus. Basically, you're paying someone to tell you to do something that you could go out and do yourself.
Nothing in these seminars is new information. There is simply nothing in them that you couldn't learn for free with a few simple Google searches. The essence of human interaction has not changed fundamentally in thousands of years. You are not getting some magical new techniques; you're getting the same stuff you've been reading about for years. All the best stuff (i.e. David DeAngelo's Double Your Dating series) has already been thoroughly detailed and is widely torrented.
All the workshops and information in the world amount to exactly dick if you don't go out and hone your craft. But you can go out and hone your craft without shelling out a couple grand to do it. It's going to take about the same time either way, since your success is entirely based on how quickly you pick up skills and develop confidence in them.
Pickup is easy once you get it. It gets easier the more you practice. Once you understand the basics, you'll actually feel really dumb for spending obscene amounts of money on learning it.
