So I made a new years resolution to actually start putting myself out there. However I'm quite clueless on just how to do so, my main obstacle seems to be simply finding a suitable place/occasion.

Here are the usual options I've either encounted online or come up myself and why I've discarded them:

Dating apps: Lots of problems I have with this one. Pretty much all the stuff that anyone reading this has already heard, so I won't bother making a list. I will simply state that the base idea of going out on a platfrom made specifically for finding dates and hookups while competing with every other guy on there sounds simply humiliating.

Gym: Would at first seem like the best option for me since it is the public space I spend time at most frequently. However it seems like the people that suggest this must be in a very different environment as mine This because I don't think that I've ever seen anyone there talk to anyone else they did not already know from elsewhere unless it was for a strictly practical reason such as asking how much longer they needed a peice of training equipment. So finding potential partners here seems to be out of question.

Sports events: One of my favorite pastimes, however far out of season right now. Also a bad option since its pretty much all males at the events I follow.

Bar: Probably the option I've heard best about when getting advice other times. Thing is it seems to me from past experiences that everyone tend to be concentrated on their own company and not those around. Maybe it's me that is looking at it the wrong way, but I'll digress.

Library: Bit of an unusual one, but since I'd made another plegdge of taking up regular reading again, I might aswell give it a shot. If anything it will get me out of my house a bit more, though I doubt it will be very useful for the topic at hand.

There are lot's of others that get thrown around but, apart from dating apps (which I included just beacuse it seems to be the go-to answer these days), the other four are the ones I found to be relevant for me personally since they are then environments I'm used to. Any bit of advice is welcome.
