I feel like I'm posting too much, but the reflections and words are fresh on my mind. I'm an ambivert but I have issues balancing my introverted needs with my extroverted needs, and it keeps cocking up my vibe and even relationships.

Going out with friends and girls fulfills one need. Alone time with my hobbies fulfills another need. The problem is that both require perishable skills. If I'm away from one of them, I get rusty and it takes some time to get back in the groove. If I don't consistently maintain it, then I lose my edge. With a full-time job it's not really possible to sustain both at the same time, and I have to choose one or the other, then switch. The pattern typically goes like this:

  1. Focusing on my hobbies, get lonely/horny.
  2. Become extroverted, regain my social skills, get a girl. Maybe even something long-term.
  3. Get burned out because there's not enough time for me to recharge through my hobbies.
  4. Cycle repeats.

Typically at step 3, the girl gets confused/bored/unhappy with my withdrawal from more social activities, and the relationship gets rocky or ends. Does anyone else have to deal with this, and how do you balance it?
