For context I'm a university librarian and most of my coworkers are students who work part time.

One of the students had mentioned he has a very hard time talking with women he find attractive. Understandable since once upon a time I was that shy awkward 20 year old.

I posed the question, Why do you think you have no trouble talking to us, your friends, that cute cashier and patrons?

Theres no expectation to those interactions. Interacting with people we find attractive is no different. It's all in your mind.
