Absolutely, this. It doesn't matter how well you dance, as much as how enthusiastically you dance. I once started a dance party at a bar, with two other strangers (both guys), because we had no idea how to dance in any kind of prescribed, organized way, but we just simply enjoyed the shit out of moving ourselves. Slowly, everyone else saw how much fun we were having, and wanted to join in. I felt like this guy.

Bounce on your toes and bob your head. Then sway your arms. Try to move your hips. Looking good takes practice, confidence, and not caring because your having fun.
I think there are two types of people that spectate: anyone who is judging your dancing is most likely too afraid and self conscience to dance themselves, the second will be happy for you that you are having fun.
Everyone that is confident dancing had to start somewhere. I have more respect for people who do their own thing than copy another person's dancing. You can try to copy moves but sooner or later you will develop your own style.
Dance for you not for others!

My favourite example here is Napoleon Dynamite. He was doing the stupidest shit while dancing. But he went @ 100%. He was fully into it and that's why it worked.

Watch youtube videos and just practice. Its all about the view and mimic. Its all in the hips. Also depends what kind of music you are dancing to. What kinda clubs are you going to?

I have an easy one for you. Firstly look at the people who are dancing. When they are doing some crash top shit that nobody can do that shouldn't be your goal. Search on youtube the two step. Simple easy to learn everyone can do it and better then just standing. Ill explain it shortly but try and find a video. Start with feet shoulder width apart. Bring right foot towords the left foot. But slightly backwards ( maybe half of your foot) but not behind your left foot here just near it. Now put it back to where it was. Now bring left foot to the right foot. Repeat. Add a little pop in your step meaning a little bounce so to say. Go along to the beat of the music and whala your dancing. Don't forget the smile
TL;DR look up videos on how to two step club style. And act like you know what your doing

I'm sure you've already heard a million times, you just have to look like you're having fun. If you're too nervous/anxious to have fun then sometime while you're at home, listen to some good music and just jam out by yourself. Just be silly until you find some basic moves you're comfortable with.

This is a little different from what you asked, and I'm still kind of new at this too, but have been having luck the past few weeks going places with bands, getting right up close to the stage, maybe a row or two back so I can see some social interactions, and watching the band. I'm literally just kind of standing in the middle of the dance floor owning my space (people try to get in it, I don't really budge), singing along with the songs and making occasional smiling eye contact with the girls nearby. The past few times, they've started coming to me and saying hi or obviously fake accidentally bumping into me. There's a conversation starter. You don't have to dance by yourself like Napoleon Dynamite, and if you're dancing with a girl get her close enough so she can't watch you anyway. Don't get drunk. Let the girls get drunk. You get to judge THEM. Honestly though, you can pick up their stupid signals better if you've had slightly less than two drinks

this works well. gets a bit more complicated when a girl is involved, but from my experience girls love to be spun around.

man dancing is just that. i've had girls try and get with me after i've racked a few pills and am absolutely flying all over the place. just have high energy, big smile on your face and look like you're having fun and not looking to get any

If you make sure other people are having a good time, you'll have a good time. Make them laugh with you. So, be ridiculous. Or, honestly, spend the time to watch and practice dancing. It is like riding a skateboard or playing a video game for the first time. You'll suck at it at first, but practice trumps all, and then you can roll out on the floor and not feel insecure. It's all about personal security, really. There is no magic solution to suddenly learn to hip hop/club dance.
Literally, those are your only two choices. I'm just being straight up with you.
