You are going to hate this answer, but it is what you will need (in my opinion) to become good at pickup.

Just have a regular conversation with them. Boring? Perhaps, but it works. By following scripts you eliminate yourself from the conversation. Would you want to have a conversation with a girl just following lines that someone else made up? I didn't think so.

Sure, you will be able to get laid on occasion and the learning curve is significantly smaller than learning how to have regular conversations with women, but there is also a hidden plateau. Most of what gets a woman attracted to you is showing your own unique personality.

Everyone and I mean everyone has interesting things about them and knowledge and experience that no one else has, share and talk about that.

As for the awkward situations while talking to girls, you just have to push through. You are leaving your comfort zone, so expect to be uncomfortable at times. You can't grow, and won't become better with women unless you push your comfort zone.

Now go out there and have some fun being yourself.

If they are attracted and comfortable talking with you and you sense they're willing to escalate, the next step is to transition into personal conversation. You want to get them to talk about themselves.

You can simply ask them a question about themselves. "Where are you guys from?" Or you can use a statement to get them to talk about themselves. "I get the feeling you're not from around here. I'm gonna say L.A."
