Nick Savoy’s Magic Bullets is a slightly broadened incarnation of the Mystery Method (MM). It does away with a number of constraints in the MM, such as harsh negs, extreme peacocking, and the rule about seven hours from meeting to sex. In these areas, Magic Bullets has been evolved from its baseline and made more widely applicable. Savoy took Mystery’s intent with negging, for example, and explained it in a way less susceptible to misuse by novice PUAs.
The book explains seduction concepts well. Openers and DHVs are broken down into useful categories; I thought the table called “DHV Impact by Communication Path” was particularly helpful. Magic Bullets also offers great strategies to avoid state breaks in the woman, categorized as avoidance, blurring, and distraction. Savoy’s examples are easy to understand and help anchor the concepts to reality.
The broadening of the MM and its 3-phase model is both an improvement and a problem. It weakens the model when you mention that Qualification blends into Comfort, and that both Attraction and Comfort levels need to be “refreshed” throughout. It may be true, but it’s now less of a model; it brings seduction back towards the realm of magic. I wish Savoy had tried harder to quantitatively define what he meant here.
There were also frequent plugs for Love Systems, and some annoying jokes and awkward sentences. Savoy seemed to encourage some lying in openers and DHVs, while taking great pains to justify the seduction phase. The section on fashion & grooming seemed generic, and the sections on day game and stripper game, written by Sinn, did not seem properly integrated into the book. Still, I would consider Magic Bullets easier to apply than the MM, and a great choice for beginners.
