My "one line": If you go to a party or other high-energy environment, be absolutely sure to acclimate to the energy of the place; join in the fun!

Okay, I lied. My second line: Be present; pay attention because information is power.

Going to go over two lines because there are a number of mindsets expressed in this thread, which are unhelpful.

____1: Manage expectations___

NYE is a holy day for us sedditors, a day when meeting women and new people is much easier than normal (everyone wants to make friends and every girl wants to start the new year off with a kiss).

Look, NYE is fun as fuck. But DON'T put this kind of pressure on yourself. NYE has parties and a happy atmosphere, but there are no guarantees of anything. Take care because going in with the mindset that something is SUPPOSED to happen, can actually turn people off.

And every girl does not want to start off the year with a kiss. There's no guarantee of that, nor is there any guarantee that a girl who wants such a kiss, will want it with you.

Just drop you expectations and try to enjoy yourself, and ironically, you'll be more likely to get somewhere.

____2: Fun doesn't need to be a competition____

Whether you're at a bar or house party, meet as many people as you can tonight and have more fun than everyone else (but make sure they know it ;) )

Just take care of your fun. NO one else needs to know. If you're really enjoying yourself, people will know. You don't need to win the fun competition, either. Just have fun.....

Meeting people though, that is good damn advice.

____3: Just bathe, don't try to have the most fashionable cologne____

I love it when a guy has amazing cologne panties hit the ground

Come on.

This is wildly subjective and isn't even actionable. There's no way to know what cologne is going to smell good to who. Some women have allergies to cologne, too.

And even if she did like it, her panties are not going to drop just because of that, if you don't know how to interact.

____4: Show up early and you don't need a prop____

Show up a little later and have something that draws everyones attention i.e. peacock

Wildly unnecessary. You don't need a prop.

Showing up a little later might work if you're well liked by a core group of people who might make a ruckus when you show up.

Otherwise, showing up later actually fucks you out of bonding time with strangers before the booze starts kicking in, guys start getting creepier, and the wagons start to circle up.

Show up early. Be there when everyone is sober and more open to strangers.
