Living in Egypt, I can tell you that you have a better chance picking up foreigners than the local girls. And that it is much easier in the resort towns of sharm el sheikh or Hurghada rather than Cairo or Alexandria (and I'm not sure if Alexandria has expatriate districts of the city like Cairo.)

The problem with local girls is that you can't approach them in the streets, coffeeshops or bookstore or mall. You have to have some common ground like school/university or work or friends/ friends of family. If a stranger walks up to them, they would disregard your pick up (even if it was innocent and harmless) as a cat call and they will either ignore you or they may make a scene. Should the latter happen, out of no where you'll find many guys coming up to the woman's aid and you could get beaten.

Its possible for you to have an easier time picking up a girl if you are in a nightclub/bar/hotel. To be honest I've never visited any of these in Egypt and I have to presume that most people go their with girlfriends so I'm not entirely sure if you'll find single ladies by themselves.

I lived in Morocco for some time, which is comparable to Egypt in its conservatism. There is no harm in attempting to pick up women there - all the men do it, and most will be more forward than you. However, even if you manage to hook a local girl on the initial approach, don't expect to be able to escalate. Unless you want to marry her.

Find your tourist bars and common attractions and stake them out. Oh yeah, and watch out for local prostitutes. They communicate their occupation by dressing like Western girls or just slightly less conservatively than average.

My brother once wanted to hook up with an Afhani. She was modern in every way, but once she told her father that she'd met a non-muslim, she had to go on vacation to Afghanistan to meet her family and stuff like that.

When she returned, she never spoke with my brother again.

So don't if they are extremely religious.

Arabic girls are exotic. But IMHO you should chill, go for foreigners and try to find a female tour guide and consult with her. Good hunting!

intellem l'arabiya...foos-ha. make friends. get invited home... no such thing as public pickup...we will be reading about your death in the papers. lol.

if you pick up foreigners...that will get out via bush telegraph...and your chances of picking up local girl will be nil.
