It's simple really. Someone sees you as a sexual object if there is only physical attraction. Someone sees you as a sexual being if there is both physical and emotional attraction. Neither is necessarily wrong or better. You have to know what you want and make that clear to your partners.

Their attachment style. Are they distant emotionaly. Do they ask you about your emotional wellbeing? Do they just text/talk to you about one thing. Ask yourself, could they fullfill me in an emotional way to?

What are you asking? Whether someones wants to actually fuck you and that's it? Or just how they respond to your energy in general when your giving off sexual energy?

For me being seen as a sexual object is being seen as one step better then a fleshlight or one of those blow-up dolls. Being seen as a sexual object means that I’m not seen as a human being, someone with opinions, feelings and a whole life going on. Being catcalled is objectifying to me, being groped without my consent is objectifying to me, forcing a kiss on me is objectifying to me, being told that all I want is to fuck “Chad” and all I want and think about is this and that and bullshit from here to infinity and beyond is objectifying to me, being followed around by a person even after several no’s is objectifying to me, being called a prude for saying no to sex and a slut for saying yes to sex is objectifying to me, being told that me wearing makeup is “false advertising” is objectifying to me.

I do not like being looked at as an object for someone to take and use. I do not like being viewed as a prize (in my case probably consolation prize, but the point still stands). I do not like having my feelings and opinions and experiences discounted because I’m a giiiiiiiirl, and I should just shut up and spread my legs. To me this is all signs of a person seeing me as nothing more than something they can use and abuse as they like, and it creeps me the fuck out!

Being seen as a sexual being is different, in my book. It’s about the signals I send, that I do enjoy sex, and have been known to partake. It’s about approaching me, but respecting a “no”. It’s about viewing me as a complete, whole and complex person, who also likes sex. It’s about so much more than just stuffing your penis up my vagina, grunting a bit and rolling over. It can also be a platonic thing; talking with your friends (m/f/o) about sex, being open about sex.

I guess it boils down to respect, for me. Viewing anyone as a sexual object is, in my opinion, gross and disrespectful. Viewing a person as a sexual being is a more respectful approach (you can still fuck it up, though)

Anyway, that’s just my two cents ...
