Because you keep putting girls in a pedestal.

Why? Because you see yourself as inferior and beneath her, and giving gifts and all that stuff is your way to try to earn her approval.

Her approval is meaningful because it makes you feel like a person of value, as if “_hey, look she gives me attention, i must be worthy_” But since you truly don’t see yourself and your personality as good enough, then you feel like you have to compensate by giving gifts, flowers, etc.

If you didn’t do this, then you probably would not get her approval or attention, and without her approval, you feel about yourself, as if it was proof that you are worth nothing to girls like her, and that is painful to accept for our ego.

You need a healthy/constructive outlet to distract you from hyper focusing and obsessing over people. When you feel yourself going down the wormhole of fawning, interrupt it and say “focus on yourself”. You need to have your own life, goals, desires etc.

With your current mindset you’ll be content to drop everything and bask in the glory of intimacy, only for it to inevitably come crashing down because you neglected yourself.

The first step is you’re now aware of it where I assume you were not aware before. Now how to fix it. Part of it is habit, part of it is self esteem / self confidence. You need to feel like you are the catch and she’d be lucky to have you. Part of it is abundance mindset - if you truly feel like you have lots of dating options you won’t feel the need to overly please one woman.

Nothing wrong with this behaviour, the issue is giving them these gifts before they've earned it.
