Make the name getting more memorable. Repeat it with eye contact, or make a comment like "Oh that is my best friends / cousin / bosses name", that would both jog their memory, as well as make it seem like you have taken an interest in their name.

You could also just say "I'm Psychic"

I think that's a perfectly respectable response and the important thing to know is that if they don't like it, move to a new set. Some people just don't want to be your friend, nothing you can do about that but meet new people.

I thought this was going to be a post about remembering people from like 5 years ago that you have been introduced to once.

They forget that you got their name via introduction during the same conversation? that's strange.

It's happened twice the past week, okay but other than that? does it happen often?

I've got a recent story for you actually.

One of my sales guys just had a conversation with a new client, and at the end of the convo he said to me, wow, that client was really nice, he remembered my name and actually said it.

I'm also good at remembering names.

You have to understand that calling someone you just met by there name is unusual, and thus is something that might make people uncomfortable.

So try this, the next time you are going to call someone by their name, pause slightly, and point at them, pretending that it took you a second to remember...

This shows that:

A) You're putting effort into being polite, ie you give a shit about them

B) Your'e still on the same approximate level of familiarity with them, ie you're not creepy.

This is what I do, and I've never been "called out." Though, if I ever was, I would move past it as quickly as possible with something like "No. I'm just good at remembering names"

Keep the friendly vibe, but don't use their name unless you have to. If you are called out again, your response is fine, just make sure you use proper tone so it doesn't sound like your being an asshole.

Think of it as a shit test. You have 4 options.

Ignore - Probably not good for this situation.
Agree and amplify - Also less than ideal.
Reflect - That's pretty much what you've been doing.
Reframe

In this case 4: Play it alpha, and act as if they are stupid for not remembering you. Just remember, alpha. They are the ones that are behaving out of the ordinary. You might have noticed when you do a practice approach on someone that you're not attracted to that you get a cold response, but you feel like, "Wow. That person is incredibly socially inept." Feel like that. Always.

I would go with your response. It seems alpha to me, and it's, at the very least, funny.
