Have been pondering on this a lot recently, rolling over it in my subconscious:

Let me preface this first with a statement, I'm not trying to brag at all, I'm really not, it's just who I am.

I'm 6'3, blonde hair, blue eyes, high cheek bones, male model body build, really only wear fashionable clothes, very charismatic if I talk to you. I still have personal insecurities, so I'm not trying to act perfect!

And here's my experience:

If I don't approach you, or you don't know me, I often come off as very intimidating, and my biggest challenge is to be warm enough and put the focus on you enough that you aren't intimidated. I have a presence that's kind of suspenseful, often if I'm in a check out line or something, the clerk won't really address me the same as others if I'm not totally warm with her, like warmly asking her about her day, when she gets off, otherwise she thinks I'm going to reject her. There's always a spot of awkwardness if I don't say anything.

So many girls I start talking to always tell me things like:

"When I first saw you, I never thought we'd be talking like this, it's crazy."

or

"You seemed so ignorant, but now that I'm getting to know you, you're so different with girls from all the other guys, just the way you talk to them."

I still get blown out, those model chicks like to test the shit out of guys, even if they're attractive. I've had girls who I moved too slow with that were drooling all over me cut me off since I didn't take them to bed fast enough. Looks really only get you so far.

Lots of girls who aren't "beautiful" with respective lower confidence often think I'm arrogant. If I'm not very charming with more shy girls, they start to go cold; e.g.

Girl I'm messing with right now turns from an eye rolling, colder girl to a smiling, doe eyed, girl who regularly gets all up on me depending on how charming I am with her. She's very shy, and isn't as beautiful as some girls I just act regular with, I need to change myself up to acclimate to her beauty/confidence.

TLDR; It's hard to balance being charming with being edgy and not come off as intimidating when you're attractive. Weird trend I see that if I'm not consistently warm with girls is that they get cold if they aren't beautiful.

Women are intimidated by good looking men, which often times leads to less signals from the women because they are that much more intimidated compared to the average guy. Women generally don't associate looks with being a player, but rather if you're "gamy" or act very smooth. Two equally good looking partners are not as often seen because people want things that they can't have, so they will making themselves much more available to the opposite sex that has a higher SMV than them. So in the case of a girl, showing very blunt signals, and for a guy, gaming her very hard/investing a lot of time onto her.

If he "let her slip away," he wasn't that interested in her. Understand that a lot of attraction with women is how you make the woman feel...those "average looking women" may not have "average value" to women.
