Have you guys been in a situation where your target likes you, but you meet her friend and end up liking her more?

Basically, have any of you ever switched targets within a set halfway through and what’s the best way to go about it?

In my experience, as soon as girl knows her friend likes you, you’re not in her radar anymore. It doesn’t matter if you have made a move, expressed interest or anything else. What do you guys think?

More context: I went out for drinks with this girl I met at a party. We just had a long conversation and didn’t kiss/express interest. She has been texting me everyday since that date, and I realized today that she is best friends with my crush from a few years ago. I want to slow it down with her and just stay friends, but I don’t know if my shot with her best friend is already gone or not. Also not sure how to handle the dynamic of hanging out with both of them.
