Last time I was at a techno club with my buddies there were a lot of girls around. I was not trying to pull anything, just really enjoy my time with the guys.

Anyway, went up to a girl to ask for a lighter (no other intention whatsoever). Her friend was staring at me and then proceeded to approach me and hand me out a couple of stickers (she was part of the crew promoting the party that night). We casually spoke for a second and I complimented her on her looks. Her friend came right away and pulled the girl out, a jealousy type of thing.

Me and my friends started laughing about it and moments after I just went to the jealous one and said "I want to kiss you". She grabbed my face and we made out. Was not that enjoyable actually and I kind of resented for a second not approaching the other one.

What are the underlying basis from this story? 1) Go out just to enjoy yourself and have fun with your friends. 2) Approach even if in just a casual way and be friendly to everyone. 3) Recognize IOI's and act upon them if you're in the mood and attracted to a girl.

Where I live, there are bars that are more fast paced like the ones you’re talking about. I’ve never found great results from trying to talk to/pick up women from these because of the exact same reasons you’ve mentioned. I’m not saying it’s impossible, or even highly effective for some people, but for me it doesn’t work.

The music is too loud for conversation, there are too many different potential partners looking to do the exact same thing you are, and everyone is very drunk.

I pickup women with intelligent conversation and the ability to socialize well with others, which is how I show confidence. Knowing this, I tailor my location to my skill set, creating the best possible conditions for success.

I had to look around for a while, but I found a bar that doesn’t have a dance floor, with quieter music, and a more openly social atmosphere. It’s not as “crazy” as the downtown bars, but there are many attractive women none the less. I now go there with a friend or two, meet some new friends/friend groups with them, and then try to pick up one of the girls we all just met.

In this situation I’ve allowed myself to display social ability and allowed for the possibility of intelligent/interesting conversation with a love interest without the added pressure of “just trying to fuck” personality the other bars promote, no pressure to buy her a drink, that whole hunter-prey dynamic isn’t there. Plus, interaction and winning their friends approval shows social proof that you’re trustworthy/safe which is crucial to a pickup.

If a Techno Bar feels like your element, if you feel socially loose and confident, if you understand specifically what your skills are/why women are attracted to you and that bar matches your personality, there’s no reason it wouldn’t work. For me, these types of bars have never been successful. For others, they are. It’s really just up to your personality.

If you seem to be having trouble where you’ve been going, I would highly recommend trying out other spots. It might be naturally easier.

TL:DR

Match the location (bar) to your skill set/personality, the rest will come naturally.

People are generally there for the music and to dance. Not to find a relationship or meet someone.
