I met a girl through mutual friends. We had an amazing night and hooked up.

Our in person interaction was nearly flawless. At the time (6 months ago) she made it very clear she had feelings for me.

The issue is that we live in different states and are both busy pursuing careers so nothing further is going to happen anytime soon. But we will most likely see each other again through mutual friends.

I still text her to stay in touch. The text communication isnt bad but it gives me anxiety because its so hard to interpret the other persons tone.

Recently I messaged her and she messaged back. I replied with a joke and she didnt respond. Looking back it was kind of a lame joke. Now Im overanalyzing and wondering If I screwed the whole thing up by seeming (overeager/cheesy/forcing a conversation when its not there etc.)

My question is this. Our in person connection was undeniable, and I made an excellent impression on her and her feeling were clear at the time.

Could a lame text like that ruin the attraction that was built?
