Things are always better with people – never trip alone

Going on a mind excursion by yourself can be fun, but when your trip sends you flying over a cliff into the abyss, you need people to pull you out. People think they can handle everything themselves, but you cannot succeed alone. You need a circle of friends, family; people in your life that actually care about you. Not just acquaintances or people just passing through your life, but people who will stand with you when you fall. They say introverts need time alone to recharge, which is true, but there is a fine line between recharging and being an outright hermit. Hermits are loners with no one around them, and when they fall, it’s like a tree that falls in a forest when no one is around; no one hears, and no one cares. When you stay inside by yourself week after week, you may get comfortable, but can you honestly say you are happy? You will fall off the face of the earth, not the way like when you’re tripping balls off shrooms, but in real fucking life. When you trip alone, you only go so far. When you trip with people you care about, you go to places you would never even dream of.

Relationships take time to build and maintain – slow cooker not stir-fry

And what if you don’t have a close circle of friends? You may only have acquaintances; you may feel completely alone. That’s okay, everyone feels that way, but it’s not okay to lay down and pray that things will change. Change comes from yourself. First you need to care about yourself, take action for yourself, or else no one will bother to help you. You need to look closely at your life in third person, like you’re a character in a movie. Ask yourself; why do you feel alone? It could be because you never open up to people, that you keep everything to yourself. People don’t have time to pry into your life to find out how great you are, because no one gives a shit unless you give them a reason to. Don’t expect people to drop what they’re doing in their lives to make yours better, because it’s never going to happen. You need to help others first before receiving help. You need to respect people first before getting respect. If you judge people, be prepared to be standing in front of a jury during every moment in your life. You have to show vulnerability sometimes. Don’t be weak, but nobody is perfect. Don’t be so quick to judge, or one day you’re going to be looking around at empty space.

Don’t jump right into heavy shit either. If you haven’t spoken to someone in months, and all of a sudden you reach out and cry about a break-up or that you’re feeling alone, don’t be surprised if they don’t give a shit. It’s not like you gave a shit about them during all those months, so why should they just because you have no one else to turn to? If you have someone you can start off right where you left off, it means you two have gone through a lot in life, and shared past experience will not die out that easily. That’s a real relationship. Don’t bring heavy shit to people you recently met, unless you know there’s a connection, because your relationship may not be as strong as you think. You need to be honest with people, or they won’t be honest with you. Honesty is what builds connections and creates a situation where people actually care about each other. There’s only so much heavy shit someone can take though, because at the end of the day, people just want to have a good time.

Strong relationships are like slow-cooking food. You put in all the right ingredients and let it slowly cook until it turns into a hearty, tasty meal that lasts for days. Compare this to a quick fast-food stir-fry covered in MSG and salt and shitty corner store ingredients. It may be good while it’s in your mouth, but once it goes down, you feel like shit, the person who cooked it making less than $8 an hour feels like shit, and if you save it overnight, it literally looks like shit. It’s a shit relationship.

You’ve got to give it time. Don’t rush. Let it simmer.

We don’t know anything

We really don’t know as much as we think we know. One person does not have all the answers. It’s better to know you know nothing than to think you know everything. Nobody likes someone who thinks they know everything, because everyone knows it’s bullshit. When you know you took a little too many mushrooms but it’s too late to go back, once it hits, that’s when you truly realize you know nothing. You can try with every cell in your body to control yourself and act like yourself, but when every cell is flying straight out of your body with what appears to be angel wings, even your own brain will be yelling “WHAT THE FUCK”.

Realizing you know nothing doesn’t mean to stop learning. It just means to be open to new experiences. Don’t be so locked into your ways that you cannot adapt to changes, and do not ever think you know anything with absolute certainty. Things will always change; you just have to be ready. This means people will change, your mindset will change, your job will change, your house will change, your body will change, the amount of drugs you can handle will change, and your understanding of the world will change. Let yourself change. Like Bruce Lee says, be like water. Water in a vase becomes a vase, water in a bottle becomes a bottle, water with shrooms and you won’t know what the fuck is going on.

It’s okay to be scared – things will be okay

When you’re peaking off an overdose of shrooms, you get scared. There’s no helping it, sometimes it just gets too intense and you feel like your mind has been ripped out of reality. You feel like you will be hurtling through space and time forever. It’s okay to be scared, it’s natural, but whenever a sliver of your own reality slips in, just tell yourself things will turn out okay. If you’re in an uncomfortable situation, so uncomfortable and awkward that you don’t think you can handle it, lean back, relax, and tell yourself things will turn out okay. Things do not last forever. If you’re feeling depressed, as long as you are moving forward, things will be okay. If you do not have a circle of friends right now, just work on yourself, be open, be honest, be interested, and things will be okay. If you feel like you’ve hit rock bottom, just slowly pick yourself back up, find the right ingredients, put it in a slow-cooker and just keep walking until it’s time to eat that hearty meal.

You have to get scared to move forward.

You stay comfortable, you stagnate. If our cavemen ancestors weren’t constantly scared, I wouldn’t be here writing this, you wouldn’t be here reading this, and none of us would have the opportunity to experience shrooms.

When you get scared, that’s the time when you know what you are made of. Each time you come back from those situations, you become stronger, wiser, and you’d be able to handle that same situation much better. Think of Groundhog Day, or even the recent Tom Cruise movie Edge of Tomorrow, where they get a chance to repeat each day over and over again. The first couple days they are losers, inexperienced and scared. By the hundredth day and on, they become the man. You need to experience it yourself before you know how to handle it. You can read as many books as you want, talk to as many people as you want, but nothing will teach you better than your own experience. You want to run a successful business? Start one and live through the experience instead of living vicariously through other people. You cannot copy exactly what someone else has done. One shroom trip will never be the same as another, so why expect things in life to be different. One man will never be the same as another, one woman will never be the same as another, and each experience will never be the same as the other. You will only learn more and move further along your own path by going through experiences. Never going through new experiences means your life has ended. If you write an autobiography of your life, it will end at your last new experience.

Have a vision of who you want to be and work towards it. Don’t rush things and let it simmer. Too much MSG makes anyone sick.

This is not to advocate taking shrooms. I just thought I was never coming back, that my life from then on would be lived in another dimension. Looking back, these were ridiculous thoughts, but at the time it felt too real to me. Next time I find myself looking at my own body lying in bed, yet feeling the walls and sheets melting into me, I’ll know how to better handle the situation, and I’ll always know things will turn out okay. Same if I find myself in any situation that seems out of my grasp; I’ll be able to depend on myself to survive it.

But then again, never trip alone. Love people; love men, love women. One thing is for certain, life is all about people. Never trip alone.

If you came here for more pick-up lines, you’ll find them in the forest.
