Tips for college orientation?

Talk to everyone, and get everyone's number - this will help you branch out even after orientation, knowing people who know different people from you. At orientation most people don't know anybody, introducing yourself is as easy as walking up and saying "Hi, I'm ____" and then asking some pretty basic questions about them and just rolling with where it goes from there. This is a chance to reinvent yourself, you have a clean slate, no matter who you were before. Sorry for kind of just shotgunning it out, but I've been through more than one orientation and I'm putting it down as it comes to me. One orientation I thought I had to be the same chump I was in high school and was kind of shy/judgemental - like I was trying to be somebody. It sucked and I had pretty shitty social experience. That school was shitty for what I want to do so I transferred to somewhere else and recently went through orientation with them. Only got a one day orientation, but decided I to act like the person that I want to be. Greeted everybody with a smile. Met tons of people. The social reputation I had from the previous school didn't exist at the new place. Clean slate. This is your experience to shape. Make use of it. Best of luck.

I wish for my College Orientation last year I talked with a lot of people. Talk about the easiest time to meet other people. I made a few friends from college orientation but I would've made so much more if I was the person I am now. Don't worry about building everlasting friendships, get to know as many people as you can.

And Join Clubs! I joined only Tennis my freshman year and regret I didn't join a lot more. This year, sophomore I'm joining a lot of clubs and getting involved. Go to events the university organizes during freshman week- if you guys have something like that- I've met tons of people from these events and know quite a number of people on campus.

And Time Management, I did not do well with that my freshman year and I'm kind of paying the price this summer but yeah, learn to manage your time with classes and social life.
