Tips for talking in bigger groups?

Introduce yourself to a group, isolate quickly. Have multiple 1 on 1 conversations instead of trying to entertain a large group of strangers. They're all out to have a good time, not to watch you preform.

I like to treat groups as one entity. When you're talking to them, treat it as if it's one person. When someone responds, you can respond to them, but try and aim it toward the whole group. The people in the group who are not responding or paying as much attention, try and call to them specifically when you want to say something to bring them back in.

For body language, you should always be facing as many of the people as you can. Work on taking up space and looking confident (straight posture, don't keep your hands in your pockets, etc). Project your voice so EVERYONE can hear you.

Most importantly is your storytelling. This is something I've been trying to work on as well. You must have interesting stories or witty comments if you're going to get everyone's attention. Timing is important for comedy, and when telling a story make sure you're not speaking to fast to capture everyone's attention.
