To be honest, as an international student in the Netherlands I find Amsterdam (and the country in general) very overrated. It has this reputation for being one of the best party places in Europe, which for me is laughable. I mean it is good to go and visit, because of the weed and the other drugs which are of a high quality, if you are into this kind of stuff, but if you are interested in a sick night life there are 583278965789 places in Europe that are much better.

European girls are not the same as American girls, especially when they are within their own territory.

Having said that, there are a couple of exceptions:

other tourists: look up the guides and figure out where young tourists, especially American tourists hang out. Not that easy, since a lot of American girls go to Europe for the locals, not for the boys that they've had around their entire life.
Local who love everything America. There are some, just hang out, they will spot you. The problem with those, is that they are master players, and they will play you like a violin

I'm actually going to agree with "elegant_ejaculation", I personally haven't but all my friends that have partied in amsterdam basically say after paying entry into a club, cab fare, drinks for girl (apparently much more socially required there, as the girls hook up with tourist basically constantly), that it is way way cheaper, hotter girls and better sex to just visit the brothel.

Not sure how I would feel personally, but everything I've heard is basically unanimous for this in amsterdam.
