First, so being hard on yourself and telling yourself there's no hope. You are capable of this and there's always hope.

Second stop worrying so much about the outcome. If you dont sense their interest or don't get s number, so what? At least you talked to someone and had s conversation. Maybe, after you get a bit more comfortable, it might be a fun interaction with some laughs.

I think the mall or grocery stores are a good shot to practice. Basically just find a girl and ask where something is. It's a low pressure way to get use to talking to strangers that had a purpose and an exit strategy. "Hey you just came from over there. I'm trying to find store X. Was it over there? I'm so bad at finding stores at the mall. This place is a maze! " they might be helpful or they might not, but you didn't risk anything or do anything embarrassing. If it seems like a negative situation you can just say hey thanks anyway and move right along BUT if it seems positive you can strike up a little conversation and get some jokes in. If it goes really well ask for the contact info. And then be on your way.

In a grocery store you can get conversation going again either looking for something because store layouts are "sooo confusing" or my favorite is chatting around the produce. Grab a couple bad looking veggies and ask the girl if they look ok because I'm "sooo bad at knowing what good ones are suppose to look like". Maybe she'll help or teach me some stuff and we can joke about whatever there. I wouldn't recommend just hangout out in produce section all day looking for hot girls to keep doing this with but you probably buy groceries weekly so save the produce for when there's a cutie in the area.

Other than this, just go to places that relate to your interests. If you like books go to a bookstore so you can find a girl who also likes books. If you are into music then go to local shows.

The best thing about being a quiet person is that you don't have to do all the talking. The key is to learn how to ask open ended questions about her feelings about what she is into and let her do the talking. She'll feel like you are interested in who she is and not just after pussy.
