What are some ways in which effective talking/interacting with girls differs from talking to guys? I had few women in my like (mom died young and few female relatives), so I don't know the distinction very well

I'll never forget watching this trainwreck at my previous job of a male coworker trying to flirt with a female coworker by talking to her like she was a dude bro friend. His banter attempts were always competitive in nature, like he kept trying to one up her no matter what she said and clearly thought he was being impressive. For example she'd mention that she did something, and he'd eagerly explain how he did it even better somehow, or she'd talk about a hobby and he'd start trying to school her on it. Even with work related things he was always trying to create a bro-like rivalry with her. She just started avoiding him as much as possible, whereas that type of playful competitiveness between male workers was common and seemed natural.

From my experience.

Most interactions with guys and girls are the same. Both parties want to be listened to and talked about. you almost never want to say or insinuate anything negative about the other person or their beliefs. You want to make the other person talk, but catch hints on when they’re done talking and want to hear more about you. everybody, unless they’re rational, like to be upheld and have their egos stroked, the key, which comes with practice, is to not overdue it. i find that talking passionately to a girl about something they enjoy works much better than if i tried it with a guy. they also seem to prefer deeper, memorable, and revealing conversations, like you’re really getting to know each other, and that you’re being listened to. i don’t talk to guys frequently, so i don’t know the key differences honestly, but i do know that girls definitely tend to be more gossipy and want to be in the know, especially if nothing interesting is happening in their lives. they also like to talk bad about girls who are prettier/smarter/more successful than them, so pretty negative. basically, don’t talk bad about a girl, make her talk about herself more, LISTEN, stroke the ego, talk in a negative connotation about those SHE thinks are better than her, but only when she does and never go overboard (otherwise she’ll think you’re an asshole and not understanding her situation)

Its all about personal experience. Its extremely hard to convey the right vibe you need. My suggestion would be to find a opener you are comfortable with and use it on as many girls as you can, and wing it after the opener. Over time you will learn what works and what doesn’t.

My opener is usually ‘Hi you’re very beautiful’

That works for me because I am ngl a very attractive and jacked guy, people with less confidence might need something a bit less direct. Mine works though because the girl will almost always say ‘thank you’ and smile.

Now after your opener you will say some random shit and girls WILL GIVE YOU FEEDBACK IN REAL TIME. Thats the secret. You can literally get feedback by how they react and either not make the same mistake again, or if it works well use it again. And over time you will develop a good sense of how it works

You should be more playful with words and talk with passion, full of different emotions. No place here for intellectual talk or argument, these are boring and lead to nothing.
