Research research research. pay attention to life, look at commercials, print mags, internet ads, look at what the guys are wearing, their hairstyles, etc... Mags like cosmo and seventeen are valuable, read them cover to cover, it may seem psychotic but thats how women actually think.

For clothes go for the classic looks, you only need 3 or 4. By classic I mean what lead characters wear in the movies year after year e.g. blue jeans leather jacket, suit, hoodie etc. First off you are taking advice from top designers, secondly women will recognise it subconsciously and associate it with a good looking well dressed guy.

Restrict yourself to a few minimal looks and make sure the clothes, shoes, accessories (not too many) etc are top quality. There is nothing wrong with having more than one of the same items.

Resist temptation to always look different and don't mix and match. Once you narrow down a few combos that look good you can dress without thinking and focus on other things.

Just to add black is always good, it is associated with uniforms and authority.
