I think there's a lot of guys here who are confident, interesting, smart, etc but don't do cold approaches. I feel that they would have a reasonable success rate if they just sacked up and started talking to strangers. So I'd like to ask you to tell us a little about yourself (optional) and ask you what's holding you back? And I'd like the rest of you to try and explain why that's an invalid excuse.

I'll go first. The thing that's holding me back is that I don't find a lot of the cute girls I see approachable. What I mean by this is that 8 times out of 10 I perceive them to be unhappy and/or caught up in their own world and I think to myself why bother? Does anybody else have this experience? Am I just imagining things? How can I convince myself that that cute girl walking by herself looking at the ground actually wants me to talk to her?

I wouldn't consider myself a PUA because I have this problem with cold approaches but my confidence is pretty rock solid just based on my success rate of transitioning from first date to sex so I feel this one thing is really holding me back and I'd really love to hear some insight.
