So, she walked out of mediation one hour in. We went back and forth with negotiations for a couple of months and finally settled on an offer that at one point she said she would agree to. Her lawyer quit the case, saying it's because my ex-wife wouldn't pay the legal bills, but rumor is that the lawyer quit because my ex-wife is just a pain in the ass. I offer to pay to keep the lawyer on for a few more days so that we can sign the settlement agreement. Naturally the ex-wife refused. She gets a new lawyer and they say everything is off the table and they want to start from scratch and ask for 50% of my paycheck and 70% of assets (which means she keeps the house), and alimony for life. I say fuck this, we'll see you in court on July 31. They file for an extension, we file a dispute, the court accepts their motion. I now have an unknown court date probably some time this fall and in the meantime my ex-wife is trying to get me to pay for house maintenance. Last update, I tell my lawyer I'll find money for the house maintenance when I have it on paper that I keep 50% of the house when she sells. Fuck this. I need a better hobby.
