This is probably just me venting.

48, alcoholic. I asked my wife for help on a Monday as I approached my doctor for medication to help quit drinking. She agreed and I had a dry week but I messed up on the weekend and drank Saturday. She moved out and in with our adult daughters. I'd been feeling this coming for quite a while and honestly it's for the best but it still hurts. We married young and had 31 years together. I still love her very much.

Over the past few years menopause and a self diagnosis of autism and ADHD has made her tough to live with. For almost 3 years she swore she had a wheat allergy then the doctor tested for it and she wasn't. In conversation there was only what she wanted to talk about. Compromise was something I did but she would not. I tried to join her in what she enjoyed but there didn't seem to be any room for me. She told me she wanted to go before and I thought we worked through it. She refused to see a marriage counselor under any circumstance. She would never admit she was wrong and lied about the dumbest things. I'm sure I'll be better off but she was a comfortable wound.

I'm no saint. I drank way too much and I didn't blame her for wanting to be rid of that. The worst part of this is that my daughters cut me out of their lives too. Blocked on everything with no explanation. Just weeks before I was helping build a computer and helping with car shopping then suddenly I hear about a very mean Facebook post blaming me for every bad thing and then some. The post ended with me being called the sperm donor.

I live in rural Midwest and don't get out much. I'm hurt and lonely and this feels like my life is over. Now I get to watch everything I built to care for my family get sold off piece by piece.
