This couldβve been written for my former FWB. I hadnβt even finished reading when I thought him kissing me on the forehead felt manipulative, then you said it βa lot of these gentle forms of affection have been ruined for me because men use them to slowly lead women into having sexβ. Same. Iβm sorry that happened to you. Hereβs to finding men that can offer us respect and politeness, and more.

Yes! Me and my boyfriend aren't having sex yet, and our emotional connection is so strong. He kisses me on the nose and forehead, and it's honestly so sweet, makes me feel so loved and cared for. There's a lot to be said for not relying on sex!

Physical chemistry is very important, but it's nothing without holistic compatibility and vice versa.

physicality is important, but I feel in society physicality and sex is equated with the 'bond' we long for - when that bond is actually formed through meaningful relationship (i.e. emotional, spiritual, intellectual compatibility).
Also, this would be a reason to vet for 90 days before sex to form this bond

Yes, definitely wait. People can have a great physical spark and still wait. It's better than rushing into something only to realize you don't even really like this person.

Ok...But that's not what the post is about. Men will have sex already knowing they don't like you. Physical chemistry is honestly not a thing. Most of us are not having sex with our parents and we love them just fine. For most relationships, if you take away sex there is nothing.

That's because a lot of people rush into relationships while horny. They don't take the time to find out if they are compatible or even like the other person. So I'm a big fan of waiting to have sex for as long as it takes to find out if you really mesh with someone.
But if you take away the sexual component from a relationship between two people with a normal libido, you basically have a friendship.
An asexual couple might see this differently, I'm sure.

For most people what your saying is true. If you take away sex, you have a friendship, which is why pregnant women get cheated on, you end up in the hospital and you get cheated on. Real friends don't cheat. So if you take away sex you actually have nothing. Almost everybody is having sex with strangers and calling it commitment and love. If this is what a relationship is like with other people. I will remain in a committed relationship with myself.

I'm afraid we are communicating in VERY different frequencies.

What? I can't hear you, you're breaking up.
[β]sleeping_prettyFDS Newbie4 points5 points6 points 5 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
I agree that a meaningful relationship must be formed first, but the moment we put a number on it, I think it can lose meaning. In the scheme of things, 90 days is almost nothing. Allowing someone to be that physically and mentally close to me after knowing them for only 90 days just seems odd to me.

Definitely understand where you're coming from, 90 days in the grand scheme of things is very minuscule. I believe, ideally, it would be what you're comfortable with but I guess 90 days being a minimum time frame - as some people, due to societal conditioning/other factors/etc,, don't value giving any vetting time period.
[β]sleeping_prettyFDS Newbie6 points7 points8 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Yeah, you're totally right. It would be nicer if 90 days was the minimum. But nowadays patience is like Latin.

Not having sex is a life changer.
Iβm not even open to heavy petting or French kissing anymore.
Treat me like a gentleman or get gone.
