This one above, is BIGI index, it addresses that issue, it actually puts men worse off in about 90 out of 130 countries than women.

I think most of the people who make these kind of indexes are fully convinced that a man could ever have a negative consequence because of their gender. They will have some exceptions, and those are usually blamed on the patriarchy, which then is another argument for gender inequality, because patriarchy=men (unless nuance forced).

Well either that, or there is some political gain to this. That's probably also the case.
