Cats are great! Just never over-cat.

[–]marcos32225 points26 points27 points 8 years ago (24 children) | Copy Link

I grew up with cats but now I dont want more responsabilities.

Yes, they are great and cheap but they are also kinda annoying and costs money , not only food but vet and scratched furniture, etc

I am good having no pets. Fuck, even plants are a pain in the ass.

[–]phreshstart[S] 18 points19 points20 points 8 years ago (12 children) | Copy Link

You should try an aquarium... start with something small, maybe add some lights. It's a nice hobby and can be relaxing.

But a fish wont scratch your furniture or piss in your house or eat loads of food , run around at night waking you up, destroy stuff, shit on a smelly box, etc

Fish are relaxing to look at while reading or chilling.

[–]phreshstart[S] 4 points5 points6 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Hey man, I'm with you on this one... I can already imagine a cat playing with my internet cable, scratching some furniture, knocking things over or hiding them for fun while I'm at work.

With an aquarium as I was saying it's a hobby, take your time and get something you like. High or low maintenance, cheap or expensive, etc. If you don't want to spend too much at once you can set a monthly budget and get something nice each month.

Depending on how much time you have take a few weeks or months and do some research and planning, this can be fun too. I'm sure you can find something here on reddit or maybe some cool videos on youtube.

[–]marcos3228 points9 points10 points 8 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

thats actually a cool idea

[–]Curgan13377 points8 points9 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

/r/plantedtanks I don't have one myself but damn they look cool.

[–]cleats4u5 points6 points7 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

They are cool until the fish gets sick and you have to start putting antibiotics in the water. Then you have to drain it half way, change the filters, fill it, add more chemicals to the water. Then suck up their shit weekly, if the power goes out for too long God help you and the smell! Never again salt or freshwater. Of course firing up a bowl and watching them was nice on occasion.

[–]Shortmanking 3 points4 points5 points 8 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

I've always wanted an Iguna, like the one Smokey had on Friday.

[–]Devil_Nights2 points3 points4 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Bearded dragons! They tend to have more personality as far as lizards go and since they are desert lizards they are easier to take care of.

[–]phreshstart[S] 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

You're an Iguna.

[–]goober_boobz0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I've heard this joke like chameleon times.

[–]phreshstart[S] 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

That's cold blooded.

[–]elementalwalruss2 points3 points4 points 8 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

Tbh i read that rats are actually really good pets and low maintenance. Kinda like dogs in a small form. Tempted to get 2 once I'm in a stable environment.

[–]marcos3222 points3 points4 points 8 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

I dont know man I dont really want any pets.

I have had pets all of my life and it is very sad when they die plus i dont want to be thinking about them when i am not at home.

[–]ghostsnnicesprites4 points5 points6 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Just do you man.

[–]elementalwalruss0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Just putting an idea out there if a cat is too much. They don't live long either so it's kind of a con if you ge attached to them, but it also means lower commitment. They also eat almost anything that you eat as well.

[–]micestorff-0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

meanwhile we use rats to disable old mines becouse they are faster than dogs at sniffing them.

yeah no so true rats are only a bad thing.

[–]kyledontcare1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Plants. Now there's an idea. Cats are fun and relatively painless but they also come with the downsides of scratched furniture and the kitty box smell around the house.

[–]ghostsnnicesprites0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Plants. Hamsters. Fish. Snakes, spiders (not sure of theyre cost though, I think snakes eat little mice lol). Theres something about having one of those (or a dog, cat, or other animal of course) that makes all the negatives worth it and theres something for everyone and some just like nada, to each their own.

[–]Shortmanking 5 points6 points7 points 8 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

I was never that big on cats until I started volunteering with them, they're cool as fuck, a lot of people compare cats to women which couldn't be further from the truth.

If anything, dogs are more comparable to women, always demanding attention and throw hissy fits when they don't get their way.

Difference is we're allowed to actually train dogs.

[–]ghostsnnicesprites0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Have you ever met one of those bitchy cats, always hissing and shit? Thats probably where the comparison comes from. But maybe you've only encountered well behaved or agreeable cats you got along with and perhaps youre more of cat person, naturally getting along with them.

Not sure, but everyones a bit different which is what makes individuality kinda cool. People love different things and see things differently. Some see cats as feminine and bitchy and need, some see dogs needy and demanding and clingy. I see dogs as more of close friend and cats as more 'I dont really give a fuck if you die right now, just make sure my bowls filled', although I've met bitchy dogs and and friendly cats. Just as individualistic as we are, so are dogs/cats.

[–]elementalwalruss0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Yeah i also had a lot of cats, while some are pretty bitchy, others are more like dogs than anything else. Really there's a lot of variance in cats i think.

And they can be like spoiled children as well, especially house cats who are always catered to. Anyone would end up bitchy if you spoil them too much so i don't see why people are surprised.

[–]OldTimeyENT1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Cats are nasty, worthless creatures that are actually an invasive species. Did you know some have parasites in their shit that effect the humans brain?

[–]fullnamenumber71 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Ive heard of it. They say it effects hormones and even makes you a careless driver. Theres this statistic or theory that 40 percent of motorcycle accidents.. If you check their brain it would have that parasite. Monkeys that get it become unafraid and sexual aroused by the leapords piss, same with rats. its a crazy thing that cats are so loved by america today, they make industry tons of money, for hospitals checkups and are contributing to genocide of our animal kingdom. crazyy I used to have two twin turvish vans one top cat and one runt they were so lovely man. I loved them.

[–]your_inner_asshole 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I have a couple of cats, but only because my kid wanted 'em. I hate the fucking things. Jumping up on kitchen counters just after they've shit in the litterbox....fuck that shit.

At least dogs do it outside. And they love me.

[–]cashmoney_x0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Fuck cats. Dogs are the shit! Team dog all day.

[–]Curgan133719 points20 points21 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I do in fact aspire to be as content with my life as that cat.

[–]doingmyownthings 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Me too

[–]NeverNeverLandIsNow14 points15 points16 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

That is a happy cat.

[–]richardhead66665 points6 points7 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I can attest to that lol

[–]STXDakota6 points7 points8 points 8 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

I always viewed monk mode as the hardest but most rewarding lifestyle long term. When I think monk mode, Im thinking grinding a full time job and a second job on weekends, studying hard on the side while maintaining a rigorous diet and training regime, and on top of that not spending money needlessly, saving it up for the future or paying off debt.

I.e the exact opposite of this.

[–]phreshstart[S] 15 points16 points17 points 8 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

MGTOW Monk mode means one has give up the pursuit of relationships with women of any kind also not spending time by thinking or fantasizing and not spending money for dating, escorts, pump and dump, massages with happy endings or whatever.

The resulting time and money you are free to spend however you want. To say you have to spend your free time or money this way or that way to be a realTM Monk Mode doesn't sound very MGTOWy to me. So if I want to stay in front of a fireplace and wiggle my tail that's my business.

[–]elementalwalruss6 points7 points8 points 8 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

I agree. I don't see why you'd need to have 2 jobs and do everything else hard to be monk mode. Maybe some just want to chill.

[–]phreshstart[S] 4 points5 points6 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Shut up, you need to man up and have real goals and be a real MGTOW /s

Or just enjoy a minimalist life. When we die we die, no matter how many kids we have, or how much money we have.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

my life is super minimal and yet i have so much. my place is NOT big but has 2 bedrooms, a study and a living room. place wasn't too much, its not so big so decorating wasn't too much. but made it nice, GREAT sofa, GREAT desk. make a comfy nest, outside of that i just save money now. i updated my music studio a bit recently but that's my passion. besides things i truly love i just don't spend money now. you realize all the clothes, gym memberships, cologne, need to consume too much often comes from a need to look socially well off, usually to get pussy.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

dude, OP i so feel you. even in my very last relationship. she was as unicorn as they come. typical AWALT hiding beneath the surface but i was so experienced and red pilled by that time she couldn't manipulate me much.

.....truth was even red pilling and having a nice hot submissive girl that loved to fuck me, the one thing i really missed was being able to wake up at 4am and work weird hours, then sleep at 11am until like 5pm and then eat and then sleep at 2am and just have weird times of work and rest where it doesnt' follow any schedule but my own. there is a REAL peace about being alone and getting older and being able to have a few hours to literally lay out like that animal is. just to forget all the worries of the world. even if you have a GOOD relationship, that shit is gone. remember women never need to be alone, they need to be with you so they can get you to do shit for them.

[–]anewleafiguess2 points3 points4 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Nail on the head, exactly how I'm working right now 8-5 work everyday, gym , eat healthy, read books and sleep well, sounds like a boring lifestyle but I'm saving and when you keep busy it's effortless

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

what? all monks do all day is pray and find themselves. what are you working so hard for.

don't get me wrong. i like men that love their jobs but what do you need more than few hundred grand for if you are truly mgtow. life isn't about chasing money. i've lived a relaxed non commited lifestyle of no marriage and just working one job i love very well and i've saved more than enough. sounds like you haven't swallowed the work red pill. don't have to be a fucking monkey in a machine. that's all for status. no way one man needs much money. don't need a big house or fancy life. if you are a man who derives happiness from having a lambo and villa in the bahamas. ok. cool. but as a 36 year old mgtow monk for 3 years now. fuck, who needs it. i agree with OP.

[–][deleted] 6 points7 points8 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I'm not afraid to say I have two cats and care for them quite a bit. They give me as much affection as a dog and cleaning out their litter box isn't a big deal. Dogs are just fine too, but the apt building I live in isn't the most conducive for them as well as the area I live in.

Yeah, I know in the grand scheme of things they are kinda useless pets comparatively and it's easy to make fun of them as well as women who obsess over them, but I know I'm not the only cat loving guy out there and for a monk who lives alone, they keep me plenty distracted and are fun to play with with the right kind of toys.

[–]poop_vomit0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I think more guys like cats than girls like cats. Obviously dog lovers outnumber cat owners though. Cats are awesome, do there own thing and perfect if you're not at home all the time.

[–]kyledontcare4 points5 points6 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Monk mode = peace and contentment in life.

[–]Official_RCLE 2 points3 points4 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Can confirm :)

[–]Israfelll2 points3 points4 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

LOL that tail, so happy...so relaxed.

[–]BlackLab19871 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Id be afraid of a spark hitting that pillow though.

[–]cowboyfromhell3241 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

That looks so nice. I bet its so nice and warm!

[–]kayfab1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

haha i got 3 cats, when my ex left i took all 3 cats at my mom place, i asked her if she wanted Lily... she said no what a surprise that fucking bitch would never have had her.

My cats over any whore any day

[–]Sn0man792 points 8 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

Feels good man

[–]thefrigginforest0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Monks never had fireplaces that fancy.

[–]cashmoney_x0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

This is definitely true for me. I've never been more at ease or mentally stable since "going mgtow." All of the drama, stress and petty bullshit in my life was caused by the females I entangled myself with.

And while I think cats are evil parasitic fucks, this is really cute.

[–]mig247-4 points-3 points-2 points 8 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

That actually looks like the feeling after you just busted a huge nut into a girl. I'm all for mgtow but FUCK going monk mode.

[–]LeafFan1990 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

That's cool, going your own way means different things. Just never marry or cohabitate with a woman
