I never understood these watches. 10k plus on your wrist all to tell time.. What is the point of paying so much for gears,complications and name brand elite? Why get this? Well if it makes you happy cool..I’m confused as the allure of luxury watches. I got a casio 20 dollar watch that does the same thing..tell time I changed the battery once in 12 years

No, it tells more accurate time than a Rolex does but that's not the point. Watches are pretty much the only socially acceptable jewelry for men. I like a nice watch myself but can't see myself spending more than $1000 on a watch at the moment. For some people it's $10 000 for some it's $10, just like with everything else. The point of a Rolex is not just to be able to tell time, just like the point of a Bentley isn't just to go from point A to point B. I know this is hard to understand for someone who isn't a watch guy, I couldn't understand it either, but think of it as a hobby of sort as well.

Yep. Pure status. I had a rolex for a couple years and it was nice. I sold it because I just didn't like having to worry about it if I stayed in a hotel or at someone's house. Just not worth the hassle.
I have a Victorinox automatic now and I'm very happy with it. Paid $500 and it looks great on my wrist.
