That's because of the way WS "academic" papers are written:

Paper A will make some claim "Abusive fathers gain sole custody 70% of the time"[4]. Footnote A-4 will point to paper B which will claim "Abusive fathers gain some form of custody 70% of the time"[17]. Footnote B-17 will point to paper C which will claim "Fathers which the mother claim are abusive still get joint custody 70% of the time"[7]. Footnote C-7 will point to paper D which will claim.... All the way down to Book J or I which was written by some feminist with no sources based on interviewing divorced women and what they believed and having never interviewed the fathers involved.

The above is a true story of one I tracked down myself.

The truth is, if your footnote isn't a footnote to the source, then you don't know what you are studying. If your footnote isn't the source of the fact, but rather a source that references the source, that means you didn't do your research.

Excellent. So, summarizing, the 2% thing can be traced back to only one source, the book "against our will" which itself is based in some unpublished speech by some policewoman in New York.

Also, in 25% of cases adn test indicates that the initially accussed individual was in fact not the rapist.
