"We fellows are very, very aware of sexism. I think the women need to catch up."

Men's rights in nutshell.

I'm Scottish, and I'll say right now Scottish women can be like animals. They drink alcohol like horses and they don't give two fucks what happens. I worked in a bar for many years and this isn't a surprising story to me.

Somebody needs to tell them Scottish women to check their privilege! /s

But seriously, we've created a society where women can behave like this with almost complete impunity... Is it any surprise that some of them are going to get drunk and take advantage of that?

Do you think some of those women would say those barmen were "asking for it" based on what they were wearing? ba-dum-tsss

You don't understand, women are not responsible of anything they do when they are drunk /s

and if they didn't, you'd be calling them frigid.

Interesting are the differences that the gender makes to the public. Here it's "Well, they started wearing pants. They don't like it, but it's an immediate solution.

If the gender were reversed in the article, people would be up in arms. "They shouldn't have to change their clothing because customers can't keep their hands to themselves."

Not true at all.

At my workplace (predominantly female staff), my also female boss enforces knee-length (at least) trousers and full shirts (no spaghetti tops or tank tops). In the summer, we get temperatures of up to 40 degrees indoors thanks to glass roofs, too. So far, not a lot of outrage.

It's exactly what it's claimed to be - a practical solution. Also, not like places like that aren't known to enforce dress codes for employees.

Note I am not defending the women who grope men in any way. That's not acceptable regardless of sex or age involved. Unless it's explicitly invited, that is - which sometimes does happen.

Sorry to make my previous statement a broad one. Not everyone goes crazy over stuff like this - the problem is that those who do are usually the loudest (on the internet, anyway).

Stop victim blaming! We should teach women not to grope!

[–]KickedToTheTop 2 points3 points4 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I agree, women must be taught not to grope. Also, kilts are such a stalwart of the Patriarchy and female culture appropriation. /s

As someone who has been known to wear kilts on special occasions (mostly costume-type events), I can tell you that some women consider it an invitation for a groping.

This is partially due to the relative unusualness of the garment, to the venues i'm at and to alcohol. To be fair, I expect the extra attention and realize that I am not in much danger.

The same behavior from men, however would not be tolerated.

[–]chocoboat 13 points14 points15 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Am I right to assume that the women tend to do it because they think it's funny, and not because they get off on groping men?

I think that's how they justify it... "it's not like I'm getting anything out of this, so I can't be doing any harm". But they don't consider that it doesn't matter to victims of sexual assault what the offender's motivation was.

[–]AngryCyberCriminal 2 points3 points4 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Can you imagine the outrage if women were banned from wearing revealing tops because men kept groping their breast?

Hell can you imagine a women being groped without serious legal repercussions?

[–]THEMACGOD 1 point2 points3 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

So, they are wearing traditional Scottish male garb and that's what gets banned?

[–]Scott2508 1 point2 points3 points 11 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

As a Scotsman I have dealt with this for years, women just don't get it and are very , very handsy , the times article is wrong though the local reporting shows the staff wanted to stop wearing the kilt it wasn't banned.

Its just discusting to be honest. Who do these women think they are, grabbing some guys junk? And think they will get away with it... Sad news is, this article is proof they did: stopping things the victim does instead of the perputrator
