I hope hes able to get the help he needs. Hopefully years of therapeutic mental rehabilitation will help. He can deffinitly afford a good one.

Pedophilia is considered a paraphilia, a condition in which a person's sexual arousal and gratification depend on fantasizing about and engaging in sexual behavior that is atypical and extreme. Pedophilia is defined as the fantasy or act of sexual activity with children who are generally age 13 years or younger. Pedophiles are usually men and can be attracted to either or both sexes. How well they relate to adults of the opposite sex varies.

The person is at least age 16 and at least 5 years older than the child in the first category. However, this does not include an individual in late adolescence involved in an ongoing sexual relationship with a 12- or 13-year-old.

The expert testifying for Hamelin agreed that he was not a pedophile. Instead, Hamelin's attraction was to post-pubescent minors. The judge decided that such an attraction was not clearly and convincingly a "serious mental illness, abnormality or disorder." Despite the fact that Hamelin's sexual interests, if acted on, might violate the law, the judge noted that sexual attraction to pubescent minors is not considered inherently deviant.

Most of the mental health community would argue that sexual relationships between adults and pubescent minors — particularly when there is a significant age difference between the two — is exploitive of the adolescent. It is important to keep in mind the law's distinction between behaviors that are inherently wrong (as judged by society) and those that are wrong because they are against the law. In the United States, acting on an attraction to pubescent minors is illegal, though in other industrialized countries the age of sexual consent is 14. But sexual preference for pubescent minors need not be pathologized to be legitimately proscribed by law, and some have expressed concern that "the alleged diagnosis paraphilia not otherwise specified, hebephilia, arose, not out of psychiatry, but rather to meet a perceived need in the correctional system" (Frances & First, 2011).

That is a very disturbing question. A number of years ago, I would have answered a resounding "No!" to that question. Nevertheless, recent research shows that it is simply normalfor all or nearly all adult heteroseual males to be seually attracted to female minors on at least some level. f course that does not imply that it is acceptable, legally or morally, to act on those feelings, but it does imply that the mere presence of these feelings is not evidence of psychopathology.

Nevertheless, three ma*or studies indicate that attraction to female minors is simply normal for adult males. I read all three of these studies, but unfortunately, I can only find oneof the three online.

Study 1: +tudy $ showed that adult males have a maimal reaction to females aged 16+ and then a rapidly descending reaction to female minors all the way down to age seven, where the curve ended. This implies that male reaction to females aged 7-15 on rapidly descending curve showing a lower reaction than to matures is simply normal. 0ethod1 2aboratory plethysmograph measures. Study 2:

+tudy 2 showed that 100% of adult males reacted to females aged 13+, and 90% of males reacted to females aged 2-12 at a lower level than their reaction to matures. Therefore, reaction to minor females was normal but on a lower level than mature females for 645 of males.

They also found that men reacted to girls from age 3&$3, but at a lower level than to $%-. 8ut instead of 645 of men reacting to girls age 3&$3, they found that $445 of the men reacted to girls in that category. 8ut the most shoc'ing figure of all was that 3.3/5 of males showed a reaction to nude female children aged 3&$3 at an equivalent or even higher level than they reacted to adult females aged $9-. 0ethod1 2aboratory plethysmograph measures.

Therefore, 26% of adult males showed a strong seual reaction to females aged 2-12. That is stunning. The problem is that this study indicates that up to 26& of all males could possibly be diagnosed with :+0&/ pedophilia if they were bothered by their minor attractions.

Although it will not arrive in bookstores until May, it has already been branded an apologia for pedophiles by talk radio hosts and conservative critics across the country, and Tim Pawlenty, the Republican majority leader of the Minnesota House of Representatives, has called for the university to cancel the book.

The book does not, in fact, endorse pedophilia. What Ms. Levine does argue is that the fear of pedophilia is overblown and that the age of consent should be lowered in certain circumstances. Ms. Levine tries to separate what she sees as real risks -- H.I.V. infection, unwanted pregnancies and sexual violence -- from risks she calls exaggerated or even invented. She argues forcefully against abstinence-only education and what she sees as a pervasive tendency to view all manifestations of childhood sexuality as dangerous or disturbing.

I see where you're coming from, but there's a reason that is not the age of consent in America, because Americans believe it is immoral and is rape. Since I'm assuming this article is from America, it is rape regardless of whatever the rules are in other countries.
