OK you guys seem to like this article so please explain something to me.

So in my understanding she's saying that sex and a relationship are two separate things. That you as a female can have relationships with males without sex and you can get "affectionate attention and emotional security" from them. I'm pretty sure I'm misunderstanding this, otherwise people here would not upvote this -so please explain...

Women do tend to conduct sexual relationships on the basis of a prostitute type contract.

That's why they cry rape when they think they have been 'undersold'.

That's why women hate legal prostitutes who bring down the asking price of themselves - unofficial prostitutes.

And that's why feminists hold that even 17 year old girls aren't knowledgeable enough to consent to sex - not being able to understand the complex sexual economic rules to sell her vagina at the best possible price.

I don't like this article.

Human behavior is economic behavior. Period. We have been optimized by evolution over thousands and millions of years to get the most out of our relationships. The ambiguity here is that there are many different kinds of things we might "get" from a relationship.

Women and men want different things. This is just simple biological fact. We have evolved to fit into different roles and niches. In any relationship or potential relationship, there is conflict, haggling, manipulation, coercion and deception. Because like it or not, these activities confer an evolutionary advantage. Like it or not, these activities are built into the human brain at a very deep level.

I just googled for "cost of raising a child" and the first site I clicked on told me that the answer was $350,000. And you're trying to tell me that relationships have nothing to do with money? Fucking bullshit. Relationships have everything to do with money. You can simplify almost any conflict at all to a conflict over money.

The author disdains "prostitutes," and equates WHINING with prostitution? What? Can you swing your gross-oversimplification bat any harder? Maybe I'm prejudiced, because I'm a big whiner, and the author seems to be a self-identified hardass-bitch-who-don't-give-a-fuck-bout-nothing (I'm guessing she's rich). But the underlying message, I think, is that women who admit to themselves that there are tradeoffs in a relationship are "dumb prostitutes," and all the hardass-rich-bitches-who-don't-give-a-fuck are so much nobler, because they don't concern themselves with petty issues like money. Uh, right. And why are these hardass rich bitches in relationships? For the love and intimacy and kittens? Yeah, sounds like a smokescreen to me.

Relationships are about tradeoffs, whether it's a tradeoff over money or something else. The only reason this bitch is claiming otherwise is because she wants to HIDE the fact that relationships are about tradeoffs, as a manipulation tactic. Hardly a novel technique.
