This is so ridiculous. The insinuation that all, or even most strip club workers are exploited flies in the face of all reality, as anyone who actually knows any strippers could attest. Of course, there are exceptions. As there are in, say, most boardrooms.

I hate strip clubs, they're smelly, the women aren't that hot and I don't like being teased to give money to some woman I'm not going to fuck.

That said, I think all the people who do enjoy them should be allowed to - even if I think its a giant waste of money and time.

This is more of a sex-worker/women's rights issue IMO, but I don't see the problem with sex workers really, maybe if sex work was legal more ugly internet trolls would get laid and we wouldn't have another "man shoots up women in a gym" story, because at least that poor sod would have been getting some.

There will still be stripping, just like there is still prostitution everywhere it is illegal. But it will be controlled by pimps now, and the gov't won't be able to regulate it or take a tax bite.

I had hoped that Schopenbecq would have approached this topic form the angle that the laws banning strip clubs in Iceland are being falsely portrayed as protecting women from men.

When the reality is these laws aren't about protecting women at all but are in fact all about an agenda that says, "If men enjoy this it must be bad and will lead to these terrible consequences, like slavery." All of which is conjecture and probably also false.

I doubt all the women immigrating to Iceland to strip for men are doing so because they are forced to. I would assume most of them are taking advantage of their skill sets and escaping very bad circumstances

All this wonderful leader has done is moved the "sex trade" underground and hence by logic made it worse than it already is, and by doing that endangering even more people.

This leader of Iceland has made a terrible mistake based on her own hatred of men but the people who will pay the real price for her hatred are women, who now when the immigrate and use their abilities to escape their current bad situations are just landing themselves in to real slavery and organised crime.

In summary, this leader has done great harm to a great many people because she hates men and doesn't understand that the basic principle of prevention of slavery in the sex trade is having the trade be legal, open and regulated. Without the legality the one person who's rights matters most loses those rights and that hurts us all.

Technically, this isn't a mens rights issue. This is more of a women's rights issue, and really it's just a rights issue. This is unfairly restricting the right of a person to do what they want with their body.

Is human trafficing, drug abuse, etc a reasonable concern? Sure. But what do you think will happen now? IMO this will backfire even harder than alcohol prohibition in the US did. People like their beer, but people like sex even more.

I ran a little experiment with a friend of mine some years back. We went to a topless bar together, sat down and ordered drinks and proceeded to ignore the women as though they did not exist (except for needed encounters with our waitress) We refused lap dances and told the dancers who approached us to stay away from our table.

It took less than 10 minutes for a manager/bouncer type to be at our table asking what the "problem" was. The dancers were pissed, and the waitress turned hostile.

We were asked to leave and did, laughing our asses off.

If they could not milk us for money, even above their overpriced and watered down drinks, they did not want us in there at all.

In that sense, the Icelandic efforts could be protecting Icelandic men. But my guess is that like most feminist strategy this is rooted in biology. Feminists, despite all their bullshit indignation at gender roles, want to covet the all powerful vagina and regulate men's access to it in order to up its value as a commodity. Same human shit, different postmodern guise.

The Victorian approach by these so called emancipated women is so transparent, but they cannot even see themselves for what they are, which is absolute hypocrites that want to trap women into their model of what they should be, even if it costs them employment and self sufficiency.

How screwed up is that?
