Here's my take:

Social science research has shown that women have an in-group bias towards other women. So outside of family members, women tend to prefer and support other women over men.

Men do not have an in-group bias. Instead they have an out-group bias. So outside of family members, men tend to prefer and support women over other men.

I think this explains the origin of the patriarchy myth:

Feminists look at men with political power and think, "Those men must be giving preferential treatment to other men, because if I was in their shoes I would definitely be giving preferential treatment to other women. We have to get men out of power and replace them with women politicians so that government will start favouring women over men instead of the reverse."

Meanwhile, the male politicians are already favouring women over men, because of their male out-group bias. But feminists can't or won't recognise that fact. They project their own in-group bias onto the male politicians and create an imaginary patriarchy that exists only in their minds.

If patriarchy were the idea that men hold more positions of political power, then it would be undeniable. But that would also be useless. Patriarchy theory explains why men hold more power by claiming society oppresses women and values men more, which is completely at odds with the data. All the lowest levels of society are full almost completely with men. Homelessness and incarceration for example.

The explanation for this is rather obvious when someone takes off their feminist bias glasses. Society values women inherently for their reproductive ability. It only values men if they bring something to the table. Otherwise they can die in the gutter or be cannon fodder. As a result, men have a big incentive to succeed whereas women know they'll be taken care of even if they don't make it to the top.

With more incentive, more men do make it to positions of high social status, but they're still a small percentage of men as a whole. Most men remain forgotten at the bottom and completely ignored by feminists and gender scientists. Something called "apex fallacy."

Key word ‘concept’ There’s no actual evidence provided. What about the men and boys who grew up having been told that women and girls are better than them in every way? Or the school system that is majority women? One of the most important aspects of childhood is education, and men are underrepresented in the education system. Surely that can be classified as matriarchy then?

Beautifully done

Literally the few advantages that I have in life like my intelligence, smaller more agile body, my hobby (gamer here) etc has been weaponized against me in some way.

Example

I remember in 3rd grade doing an astrology based science presentation, my presentation was all about stars, planets, galaxies, black holes etc.

All the teachers in the room went out of their way to tell me I was wrong like how “stars don’t explode when they die planets do” while my classmates sat there confused since I went into astrology we wouldn’t learn about for a few years.

It wasn’t just me either they went out of their way to criticize the rest of the boys presentation too, usually trying to downplay their intelligence like they did to me (the presentation is on what we already knew about space so far) while going out of their way to compliment the girls presentations even when information was incorrect.

This actually led to the boys in the class complaining about our grade and the girls telling us to do better next time.

The playbook seems to be take classism and pretend it's sexism against women. This also happens a lot with complaints of racism. Feminists compare the average woman to the top men or they campaign for the average woman to get top positions held by the most skilled men.

ok well in some country's in not a myth. where i live its terrible. men can get away with a lot more and attack on women is like 65% higher, rape rates or through the roof, and domestic violence runs wild. i do think where i live women have i way harder get im still an equalist because i acknowledge that in other areas men have it harder

Patriarchy is a concept in which men hold a disproportionate amount of power in the public sphere. With men having 20 percent more earnings, much more political power, and being much more represented in upper management...it does get hard to argue that society isnt male dominated.

The key note to define patriarchy though, is that women are excluded from positions of power. And I don't think that argument can still be made. Women just don't seek power as much as men do because of residual effects of gender roles. Men are conditioned to seek power and be competitive. Women not as much.

So I would argue we don't live in a patriarchy...but I can certainly see why some people think we do.

I think the patriarchy does exist, but the only ones who benefit from it are the men at the very, very, top. The only people in the patriarchy are people like Donald Trump and Jeff Bezos, men whose wealth and status keep them from ever being held accountable.

Jeff Bezos abuses his minimum wage employees. Trump has been accused of rape and was friends with the US's most prolific child sex trafficker.
