I dont think the drill instructor is even allowed to touch the trainees

This is true, FMJ was 40 years ago, and things change

Noxious culture typical of armed forces.

'If she was in a bad mood she would punch us. She did punch me on one occasion... just a quick jab to my stomach. I didn't have any warning but I had seen it happen to other people so I was expecting it, and she didn't hit me as hard as she hit the males.'

Unfortunately expected.

Bullshit. This was a woman behaving like shit because they get special privileges.

Don't disrespect actual heroes, people who have given their lives to protect you because of the actions of one person. That's asinine and reeks of privilege.

Was the storming of Normandy "Noxious"? What about Iwo Jima? Should the Jews have been left to rot in the re-education camps in your opinion?

I served my two years of full-time national service (male conscription is mandatory in my country) and continues to serve annual reservists and manning.

"Noxious" refers to the toxic culture typically exhibited in armed forces and other uniformed groups. We call it "tekan" culture over here. It is this culture that led to so many unnecessary deaths, injuries and traumas amongst service personnel, including this recent high profile case. I'm not at all disrespecting the service personnel, quite the contrary. I'm saying that personnel deserve to be treated with respect and dignity.

You can celebrate military victories (that took place decades ago) while acknowledging that harmful and negative things happen within the military. Sexual assault is a huge problem for both men and women in the US armed forces. There are also accounts of torturous methods of training, hazing, and even fratricide. Ignoring all that and acting like the military is just heroes and trophies is not helping anyone.

Training like a snowflake will not help anyone, either. Real fights are horrendous, a soldier needs to be physically and mentally prepared for the worse. Unfortunately, the armed forces are busy with politics...

[–]tiemey 13 points14 points15 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Surely there is an effective training method that falls between “snowflake” and “against the Geneva Convention”

[+]Rol9x -11 points-10 points-9 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Of course there is, as soon as they get rid of the politics.

That literally hasn't been a thing for almost 100 years. Grow up. Nobody is being protected with war.

You're being a jackass. Nobody is immune to criticism, or rebuke, because of past "victories".

Let's see how she likes it when her male victims give her a hard gut punch.

[–]rabel111 11 points12 points13 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

A woman over-compensating for her sex by displaying inappropriate aggressive behaviour, particularly toward male recruits. On the other hand, recuits need to have resilience, and may need some reprograming to unlearn entrenched ideas about personal integrety and response to aggression.

Military prison is a very unfortunate place to find yourself, honest to god truth it’s better to just dig deep and continue on

[–]MalkavianScum 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

This is just how women are in the army. They're usually short, often quite fat, and have absolutely no intimidation factor. They have to go the extra mile and just be complete pieces of shit to compensate for the fact that they're only in the army because of lower standards for women. The "men have fragile egos" lie is only believable if you haven't seen or heard of how fucking pathetic female drill sergeants/instructors can be.

I only have one test: are they tough enough to fight a Russian soldier?
