Yeah, This has been blowing up it’s all over the internet.

[–]sgt_oddball_17 42 points43 points44 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

They are becoming too numerous for even the Make Believe Media to ignore.

[–]Anih1list[S] 34 points35 points36 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I honestly never expected this from mainstream news. Male disposability seemed ubiquitous left or right.

[–]Empty_Pomegranate362 19 points20 points21 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I read somewhere he would be receiving somthing like 20K per year (could be wrong about the amount) that he was locked up. His young life was stolen and and they offer him peanuts. Sickening

[–]ButInThe90sThough 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

That's insulting

[–]ButInThe90sThough 3 points4 points5 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

So Alice Sebold wrote Lucky and, and The Lovely Bones after falsely accusing someone of rape. She goes on to be famous while he sits behind bars.

At least he has money to go after when he sure her, the PD, and the doj. This is crazy. She had all of this time to come clean and choose to capitalize on it instead.

We gonna cancel her too or did she get the usual pass?

[–]Angryasfk 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

She’ll get a pass. Look at those comments above. It’s just “racist cops”. Forget about her telling them it was him in the first place!

Look I’m willing to accept that it was a case of mistaken identity. That she didn’t see the rapist very clearly. The point is that this is what’s wrong with “believe all women”. Some lie, for whatever reason. But some are just mistaken. The cops should have seen her failure to ID him in the line up as a red flag - that’s their fault. But she’d already told them he was the guilty party. So some of the blame certainly does rest with her inability to tell the difference between Broadwater and her actual attacker. I’m willing to accept she made a mistake (it’s for Broadwater, not me or you to accept she made an honest mistake or to pursue some redress against her), but I’m not ready to whitewash her role in this. She was much more central to them going after him individually than her “apology” admits to.

[–]IKnowMoarThanYou 19 points20 points21 points 4 years ago (43 children) | Copy Link

You guys should read the article. She reported being raped. The police railroaded that guy, and her. The article literally talks about how they told her who to pick out, after she picked ‘wrong.’

This is less a ‘false’ allegation and more ‘police incompetence’.

[–]Anih1list[S] 8 points9 points10 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Well, the police and criminal Justice system are not known for their lack of prejudice.

[–]orcwordlaugh 23 points24 points25 points 4 years ago (10 children) | Copy Link

You left out the part where she made money off it. She wrote a memoir called "Lucky" and was having a movie made about it on Netflix until the producer decided to dig into the story and found her out.

Source: https://www.nytimes.com/2021/11/23/nyregion/anthony-broadwater-alice-sebold.html

The book, titled “Lucky,” launched the career of the author Alice Sebold, who later rose to international fame with “The Lovely Bones,” a novel that also centers on sexual assault and sold millions of copies.

-------

Mr. Mucciante said that he ended up leaving the production in June because of his skepticism about the case and how it was being portrayed.

He hired a private investigator, Dan Myers, who spent 20 years working for the Onondaga County Sheriff’s Office and retired as a detective in 2020, to look into the evidence against Mr. Broadwater, and became convinced of Mr. Broadwater’s innocence.

Mr. Myers suggested they bring the evidence they gathered to a lawyer and recommended Mr. Hammond, who reviewed the investigation and agreed there was a strong case. Around the same time, Mr. Broadwater decided to hire Mr. Hammond based on the recommendation of another local lawyer.

[–]IKnowMoarThanYou 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (9 children) | Copy Link

Yeah, good thing she did or he might still be in prison.

[–]Angryasfk 5 points6 points7 points 4 years ago (8 children) | Copy Link

No thanks to her though.

[–]IKnowMoarThanYou -3 points-2 points-1 points 4 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

How rude of him to not thank her for help get him out of jail.

[–]Angryasfk 3 points4 points5 points 4 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

Given she didn’t approach the judicial authorities after the event, it was the producer of the film who investigated and then approached the authorities, I’d say he owes her nothing. Likewise I’m now quite sure you’re just a troll.

[–]IKnowMoarThanYou -1 points0 points1 point 4 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

I’m a what?

[–]Angryasfk 4 points5 points6 points 4 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

You know perfectly well what you’re doing, and it’s clear to everyone else too.

[–]IKnowMoarThanYou -1 points0 points1 point 4 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

I think you overestimate yourselves,

[–]Angryasfk 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Not as much as you do.

[–]IKnowMoarThanYou0 points 4 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

Sure. Does it hurt when you burn yourself that badly?

[–]Angryasfk1 point 4 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

Take a break. Your attempted insults are falling a bit flat.

[–]travelingmarylander 3 points4 points5 points 4 years ago (10 children) | Copy Link

"Almost a year later during her testimony, she was sure it was Broadwater who attacked her."

That lying bitch.

[–]IKnowMoarThanYou -3 points-2 points-1 points 4 years ago (9 children) | Copy Link

Yeah, fuck her for being a 19 yo kid who had been violently sexually assaulted and then railroaded by the cops into identifying the wrong man and gaslit with faulty evidence.

[–]Angryasfk 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

She was the one who saw him in the street and told the cops HE was the one who RAPED her in the first place. She wasn’t the “unwitting” victim of cops who wanted to just close a case and didn’t care about who got jailed for it. She put them onto him. This does not make their actions any less appalling, but she told them it was him in the first place (and then couldn’t tell him from other black guys in a lineup).

[–]travelingmarylander 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

u/IKnowMoarThanYou is a misandrist troll.

[–]IKnowMoarThanYou -3 points-2 points-1 points 4 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

Imagine that. A traumatized teenager misidentified their assailant, so it’s definitely mostly her fault that the legal system full of trained professionals - cops, lawyers, judges, forensics - convicted him.

[–]Angryasfk 5 points6 points7 points 4 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

She a) told the cops that this black guy she saw it the street was her attacker, so they arrested him, and went looking for “evidence” to corroborate him being the villain. Then b) she swore in court that he was definitely the rapist. That’s a little more than an “unwitting participant in a flawed justice system”.

And feminists, like you, keep saying we must believe all women. If a “traumatised young woman” has such unreliable testimony, then serious corroborating evidence MUST be needed before charging someone with such a crime surely!

[–]IKnowMoarThanYou 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

She picked the wrong guy out of the lineup, and then was coerced and convinced with faulty evidence. The fact you don’t want to admit that she is ALSO a victim here is what shows just how biased and discoloured your views are.

[–]Angryasfk 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

She couldn’t pick him in until he line up, but testified anyway. She’s a rape victim, but she is not a victim of the trial. Stop pretending she is.

[–]antifeminist3 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

she falsely accused a man; since she was not sure this man raped her, its a lie. Since she lied, I will not assume that she was actually raped. Proof she lied, he didn't rape her.

Women already live in a world where a woman's testimony can convict a man (no proof), but a man needs proof that he didn't rape a woman. The threshold to convict a man of rape is much lower than the threshold to even charge a woman with a false rape accusation. It is already very biased against men.

[–]travelingmarylander 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

"Almost a year later during her testimony, she was sure it was Broadwater who attacked her."

Yes, fuck her for lying in court. You're disgusting.

[–]IKnowMoarThanYou 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I think it’s incredible that you don’t want to recognize that she was also a victim in this: she was raped, and then coerced and convinced by law enforcement to accuse the wrong person.

[–]liquidst1 point 4 months ago [recovered] | Copy Link

Thank you. People do not understand that victims are told to come forward with any info, even a hunch, then they take that info and run with it.

Misidentification is NOT false accusation, not malicious, and is deeply distressing for the victim as well. There are many instances where multiple victims see completely different details and they believe their memory.

[–]3r324 7 points8 points9 points 4 years ago (11 children) | Copy Link

This means that police incompetence is negatively effecting men which makes it a men's rights issue. You are mad at things that people literally did not say and things that did not occur. Fighting windmills only gets you so far.

[–]IKnowMoarThanYou 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (10 children) | Copy Link

*affecting

[–]3r324 3 points4 points5 points 4 years ago (9 children) | Copy Link

Troll account. Ignore his posts, he does not participate in good faith discussion. Also, **effecting.

[–]IKnowMoarThanYou -5 points-4 points-3 points 4 years ago (8 children) | Copy Link

I might not argue in good faith but my grammar is spot on.

[–]3r324 4 points5 points6 points 4 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

>hunh

Who hurt you sweaty?

[–]IKnowMoarThanYou -5 points-4 points-3 points 4 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

Did you just misspell sweetie?

[–]3r324 4 points5 points6 points 4 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

I know what I said sweaty. I am gonna have to ask you to turn in your PC, your false-flagging was just not up to par for the 3rd week in a row. You will receive zero social credit points for today.

[–]IKnowMoarThanYou -1 points0 points1 point 4 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

Oh lol, you think I’m someone else on an alt. That’s hilarious 😂

[–]Glum-Jellyfish1349 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago* (3 children) | Copy Link

Nice new account. Someone make you assmad enough to create an alt solely for trolling, or does the thought of subs that don’t conform to the reddit hivemind just wound you deeply?

[–]IKnowMoarThanYou-1 point 4 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

Nope. But you can guess again.

[–]Glum-Jellyfish13493 points 4 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

You seem to post almost 24/7 (just on this alt), so I assume you’re a typical reddit retard that thinks being a male ultra-feminist will make you popular. You are also likely unemployed and single. Just speculation, of course, and whether I am right or wrong you will vehemently deny it.

[–]IKnowMoarThanYou0 points 4 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

GUESS MORE

[+]EnvironmentalWar4627 -8 points-7 points-6 points 4 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

I think people like being angry at women more than the broken justice system. Not sure why.

[–]Anih1list[S] 7 points8 points9 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

People just love the warm cozy feeling they get from knowing there’s police protecting them from bl- I mean dangerous folk

[–]Angryasfk 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

The likes of the male feminist above forget that she told the cops he was the rapist when she saw him in the street. That’s why they tried to pin the crime in him in particular. She’s not some unwitting bystander.

[–]IKnowMoarThanYou -5 points-4 points-3 points 4 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

Misogyny.

[–]OwlMantheHeckler 4 points5 points6 points 4 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

What?

[–]ignatztempotypo 8 points9 points10 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

"He spent years in prison for the rape of....."

Assholes. Why doesn't the headline read "He spent years in prison because she falsely accused him of rape"?????????

[–]weirdest_memes_ 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Must be a bug in their systems 😂

[–]Jolt_Ready_95 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Can we call this progress?

[–]Anih1list[S] 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Only if this sort of thing is sustained

[–]GrinningPizza 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I doubt it will be.

[–]63daddy 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

That’s a departure from their normal woke reporting.

[–]airfox3522 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Yet, you still got people that would scream " believe all women!" or would rather see 99 innocent men go to prison for sexual assault than one actual sexual assault perpetuator escape.

[–]Svenskbtch 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

That is great. Though, not to be cynical, it is perhaps not a coincidence that the races align with a particular narrative.... Still, progress of sorts.
