Even being a naturally submissive women, I was so shamed away from being submissive, I thought that being submissive made me bad and weak, and was something to be ashamed of. It took my SO literally telling me, "No, it's ok. Do that. I like that", for me to become ok with it. Now, I try to practice it on different men and have gotten some good results.
The best results have been with my roommate, because I spend the most time around him, and he's had the opportunity to witness me all the time. The other day he was expressing his amusement in how he's so much sweeter to me than everyone else. And I just thought to myself "Gee, I wonder why...". Just this morning I was leaving and he was expressing that he didn't want anyone to come over because he was sick of people, so I joked back at him saying "Oh, so I shouldn't come home then?" He started back peddling so fast it was amusing, "No, no, come home, please. I'll make you dinner."

Masculinity is overt power. Femininity is covert power.

It took into my mid-20s for me to realize that the things I thought made me strong really made me weak.

I like the submission = powerful idea. Really, at the end of the day, the submissive partner is the determining factor because UNLESS we submit, whatever event/choice/decision won't happen. Assuming the man doesn't physically force us.

And how is that working for you in attracting the long term commitment of a man to whom you are attracted?

What was your goal in posting this? Why do you want to be on RPW?
I feel like I shouldn't be pushed into a mold.
I agree. You're not being, though, so why bring it up?
Naturally submissive girls should be themselves, whereas people who are like me shouldn't be looked down upon for being different.
Sure, but you're going to have to accept that people have preferences and are going to share them. People preferring submissive women is not a threat to your right not to be one. Forcing them to be accepting of you is a real problem. So what if people don't want you or want to be like you? What is the point in trying to get them to? Why even bring it up? Just move on and keep on keeping on.
very independent and very firm in my own path and my own choices I don't want children I have deiced to do my own thing in my own way. But I've been a baggy sweat pant wearing, anti pink, lizard and scorpion catching(grew up in AZ) tomboy forever

Not one of these things are the antithesis of submissiveness.
EDIT: I see now that you are from TBP concern trolling us. Thanks but no thanks.

I came across this article, and found it very interesting.
Specifically this part: "Submissiveness is greatly misunderstood and gets a bad wrap. It doesn’t mean the woman is a doormat. It doesn’t mean she doesn’t have a mind. It’s a quality of mind, a quality of psyche and behavior which is different than aggressive and dominating behavior. Men and women naturally have both in their natural makeup. Society fucks with you and teaches you that you’re supposed to be what you normally wouldn’t be, whether you’re a man or a woman."
I've mentioned TRP to some of my friends and the response I've gotten is generally 50/50. Some get it, say it makes sense, and are actually interested in learning more. Some however say I'm crazy and tell me this isn't 1950. I'm sure you've all experienced this as well. Anyways, this article helped me and I thought I'd share.

Only women can be good at submission and the covert power thereof.

We need more gentleness.
