Whether these kinds of messages work or not is based on how physically attractive a guy is. Whether a guy pulling this is "confident, got balls" or "loser, is a creep" is just post-facto rationalization based on that attraction or lack thereof.

This is a terrible way to think about it. Online dating gives you exactly two components of attraction: wordplay and looks.

90% of whether a woman even pays attention to you is a thumbnail of you. A further 8% is the zoomed in version. The remaining 2% is whether they like what you wrote.

Men are the same.

To say "attraction is 100% looks for women" based on online dating (like your image does), is to ignore that online dating basically only allows these two factors...

I agree with your statement with the one small correction. Doing well in any one of the other categories, Looks, Status, Charisma or Success are each almost completely sufficient to attract a woman. Humor on the other hand is not. No one wants to sleep with the "funny guy" at work or school unless he has credentials in the other areas.

My roommate is a pretty attractive guy. He's done the following that lead to closes (but he's married and does it for the validation-whoring):

  1. Slapped a girl's ass as she walked by him at a pool party. Every time she walked by he slapped her ass. He got winks and smiles for his effort.
  2. Another girl didn't introduce herself to him fast enough so he bitched her out and said get the fuck away from him. She came back after an hour and tried to make ammends and he kept giving her the "I don't give a fuck" look. She tried harder and harder. Keep in mind that this is an attractive girl and didn't have to put up with that shit, but vagina-tingles...

Try doing that without amazing good looks.

One of my friends from high school was an overweight guy with a face that looked like he'd gotten into a fight with a Mike Tyson. Without fail, at parties and in the halls, he'd do the exact same things you described, and get the same reactions. He's incredibly charismatic and I don't know a single person who dislikes him.

When women say they want these traits, what they really mean is that at the very least they want those traits in a man they are already attracted to.

The reason a guy with money/resources but not the traits they are sexually attracted to can get have success with women is purely due to female dual sexual strategy.

I believe as men we have the distinct advantage of demonstrating to women exactly how attractive we are.

If I'm rich, it's difficult for a woman to know this just by looking at me. She doesn't know if I'm a good mate until she sees my bankroll- or talks to me. A confident demeanor and an expectation of success allows us to partially supersede our physical appearance by creating an alternate method by which our resources are judged.

When I meet a woman on the street, she doesn't know how to treat me based on appearance alone. She takes cues based on how I treat myself- or rather, how I expect to be treated. We're teaching women how to treat us. Teaching them how to desire us.

I respectfully cannot agree with your view that confidence and social skills do not factor into attraction. I'll admit it: I'm not a classically good looking man, and I cannot discount my possible bias. But I'm going to do better going in expecting success.
