I'm a big romantic, always have been. I like to make a girl feel special, wonderful and give me that massive self-esteem boost and happiness that comes with me knowing, deep down, that I can make this girl happier than any guy ever made her.
Now, there are women out there who expect this kind of behaviour from a man in light of their feminine grace and generous spirit in allowing a man their time and the possibility of getting to see her without her clothes on.
Do not fall into this trap. Do this for a girl who you're already fucking, has earned your effort and who appreciates what you're doing for her and rewards you properly. Sex is not an ample reward in and of itself, any woman can offer you that.
Your ex took you doing this forgranted and got bored of you. Scale it back, tone it down, use romance as a reward, not as a default behaviour.

i like the concept, using romance to reward good behaviour, not using it expecting to get rewarded for it.

It should be used sparingly so that it doesn't cost you too much in terms of her attraction to you.

Very well said.
I, too, would label myself as a romantic. One thing I've noticed from my personal experience is that women want to be desired ... by the strong, alpha men.
If you establish yourself as a high-SMV, strong man, you afford yourself far more leeway in the art of romance. Keep that in mind, as it shouldn't be hard to imagine a romantic beta being labelled as "creepy."

Mclorie has it summed up very well. Reserve your gifts until you know shes worthy of them.
I honestly glad you asked this question and I got to tell you I think if Mclorie didn't get to this post first then someone that doesn't grasp the aspect of RP would of told you something totally different. RP is about improvement rather than change.
We all like making women feel special it's how most if not all of us where raised. RP is just helping us point that behavior to a woman that's actually deserving of it while teaching us how to handle the ones that don't. So you know what it's her loss and she will probably realize it when she's in her 30's hanging with her seven cats.

If you like it do it. Just make sure that she puts forth the same kind of effort in the relationship.

wow, love letters?
i duno, i dont think its a good idea. it shows her you need her approval, do you?
why isnt it the other way around? why shouldnt she work for your approval?
you broke up with her? why? or did she leave you? if so, whatever you were doing wasnt working, right?
love letters are just a display of your need for her, and need is not attractive.
this might sound crass, but, i want my GF to feel good, i let her give me a BJ and cum in her mouth. i have never written her a love letter, and i never will.

i broke up with her, but she wanted the break up aswell, it just wasnt the same anymore, i had become to needy and insecure, looking back im glad it ended, i was able to learn a lot from my mistakes and how i showed weakness, she even cheated on me and i forgave her, maybe i should have ended it right there but oh well, life goes on.

Happens to the best of us, dude. It's a special ability women have. They don't get the natural strengths of a man, but they get the ability to sap yours over time and pussify you.
That's why if you're interested in LTR or (god forbid) marriage, your LTR game better be ruthless and designed to fight her frighteningly efficient unconscious efforts to turn you into a beta.

Neediness, at least in her perception, would be shown by doing all that shit for her esp. the love letters. What is that but expressing your need for her?
So, that may be exactly why she had had enough. When you say you had become needy and insecure it sounds like she's the one who initiated the breakup. You weren't liking it any more because she wasn't the way you like any more, and indeed she left.

Do what you think is necessary. Your the captain of your own ship. I've written epic love letters before and some women love this. But have a reason to write them, there might be a level in your relationship you need to start thinking more practically. Do what you feel natural doing, even if it's technically a mistake by everyone else standards. You can always as ask her if she likes your letters.

Just decide if you'd rather be pavlov or his dog... Reward her for great behavior, do not use "romance" to try and woo her for something you want.

A little of this goes a long way. Except the candles part. None of that, please.

No you shouldn't have done those things. RP philosophy states that those actions should have only been done as a reward and never as an expectation.

I am a very romantic 29 yo man, and I am very immature in relationships since I spent 10 years with a girl that turned out to be my ex-wife. After the divorce, I found a girl that delivered an insidious shit test. She convinced me that she was very romantic and was looking for a really nice guy. I never heard about the red pill or shit tests before, and I failed this one immediately.
In the second date, I brought a flower. In the third, more flowers. Then I sent flowers to her work. In the meantime, she was texting me "heart" smiles and saying that she was loving it, that I was incredible, etc.
I even wrote a love letter, but she flaked the date and I thrashed it. I am glad that I did it.
Two months later, she broke-up with me saying that I was very romantic and a great guy, exactly what she was looking for, but there was no chemistry. We never had sex. A month later, my ONEitis for her is still lingering.
Never. Again.

He who cares the least in a relationship controls the relationship. If you're employer values your contribution he'll pay you more if he/she thinks you can find an equally paying alternative. It doesn't matter what you write in letters. If your girl thinks you're sexually attractive she'll be with you no matter how you treat her. But be warned. Many women are in relationships because nothing better has come along yet. Hypergemy ? So don't do anything stupid like marry them and let them sit on their ass for the next 20 years.
