FUCK careers. You only achieve full independence when you own your own business. Careers are part of the blue pill I used to take. The idea you 'have' to work your way up a ladder. It feels like fucking slavery and takes forever to pay up.

People are way too proud of their stupid fucking careers. You put in time and stress to impress somebody else and get them to pay you a bit more money here and there. They own you, they tell you how often you can be sick, how often you can travel, what to wear, when to eat etc.

That said if you want to pursue a career, pursue something that will give you skills to make your own business or living on your own some day.

Engineering is damned good with a Master's. You can walk out after 5.5 years of school with an above median salary anywhere in the country. Lets you live where you want, and as long as you're okay with 40 hour work weeks, you can be pretty flexible with the hours. If you're good at it, you'll also get the chance to make some pretty cool shit and feel like you make a difference. And you can parlay it into being an entrepreneur, since you'll have the background to create new products/markets to exploit.

I have a PhD in Physics and the salary 90k-150k+ is way over the reality, in the US, in CA you can be happy if you start with 70K. On a side note, when you think that physics is way way more difficult to master than dentistry, Optometrist it kind of sucks...

To give you an idea, in France, a PhD in physics can espect around 30 to 35k maximum.

That is why, as long as you work for somebody, a cie or whatever you are a slave and you will be screwed. the ultimate goal to be a true dissident is to create your own business after some years of experience in the industry.

Computer Science: 60k-100k+

Getting a job in this field with pretty much the exact pay range can easily be done without formal education.
